DENVER – Many local elementary schools are ending the year, and starting the summer, with a splash, including Catawba Springs Elementary, which had its fun/field day May 25.

Students participated in traditional field games like balloon tosses, relay races and other water-related games. Some games were more creative, like one similar to musical chairs where students had to compete for a seat, and instead of a chair, they had to plop down in a tub of water.

Hundreds of students and dozens of volunteers were scattered around Catawba Springs campus enjoying the fun, despite the rain.
