DENVER – Denver Baptist Church is hosting a Church Safety Workshop Aug. 19 for members of any church.

The presenter is Deputy Brett Watson, who is with the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office and a member of Denver Baptist. He is a co-leader of the DBC Shepherds, the church’s safety and security team.

The workshop is at 4:30 p.m. with a Q&A at 5:30 p.m. at the church’s Worship Center, 6917 Forest Hills Drive.

Youth group holding Water Night

DENVER – The high school youth ministry at Holy Spirit Catholic Church is holding its fifth annual Water Night Aug. 19.

Participants should bring clothes they don’t mind getting wet, a white T-shirt for slip-and-slide kickball, a towel and a sundae topping. Water Night is 6-8 p.m. at the church, 537 N.C. 16 Business.

DENVER – The Denver campus of The Cove Church will have a New to the Cove class Aug. 26.

The short class starts at 10:30 a.m. to learn more about the church and meet leaders at the campus and others who are new.

Westlake campus hosts dinner

DENVER – The Dinners for 7 … or 8 program returns to Lake Forest Church – Westlake Aug. 11.

The meal is intended for people looking for a community specific to the area. Postcards to RSVP are available to fill out Sundays at the church, which meets at Lincoln Charter Elementary School.

Volleyball played at Webbs

DENVER – The youth fellowship program at Webbs Chapel United Methodist Church holds volleyball, video games and more from 4-7 p.m. Sundays.

Webbs believes its teenagers are a vital and important part of the community. Youth are given responsibilities within the community, respected as whole persons and rewarded with a whole lot of fun, the church’s website states.

Church showing ‘Greatest Showman’

DENVER – There will be a Ladies Movie Night Aug. 17 hosted by Church at Denver.

The program for women and teen girls will be showing “The Greatest Showman” starting at 7 p.m. at The Lodge, 274 N.C. 16 N., Suite 100.

Attendees are invited to bring a snack to share.
