DENVER – A Denver woman who robbed a bank Tuesday didn’t get far with the loot, authorities say.
Diane Michelle Weeden, 56, of Ballard Road, was “quickly apprehended” after a 9:30 a.m. holdup at People’s Bank at 142 N.C. 16 South, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
Weeden, wearing dark glasses, reportedly demanded money and handed over a note saying she had a gun. She did not display a weapon.
“Deputies quickly converged on the scene and located the woman near a vehicle behind a nearby Food Lion grocery store,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release.
Weeden was arrested and charged with felony robbery with a dangerous weapon. She was being held at the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $35,000 secured bond.
The money was recovered.
The FBI assisted in the investigation.
