Breakdown: The North Lincoln Knights can draw even with West Lincoln for second place in the South Fork 2A conference standings with a victory over the Rebels Friday night. The Knights enter the contest with a 6-3 record in league play, while West Lincoln boasts a 7-2 mark, including a 3-0 victory over North Lincoln March 12. The Knights are riding a four-game winning streak entering Friday’s action after a 14-2 drubbing of Lincolnton March 29 and a 3-0 victory over Bandys April 2.

Lincoln Charter at Cherryville (softball)

Breakdown: The top two teams in the Southern Piedmont 1A conference will battle Tuesday when Lincoln Charter hits the road to take on Cherryville. The Lady Eagles will need to pick up a road victory to maintain their lead over Cherryville in the league standings. Lincoln Charter beat Cherryville 10-6 on March 12 in Denver. The Lady Eagles were led by seniors Nicole Sparkman and Mia Stokes, who each had a pair of RBIs in the first showdown between conference rivals.
Lincoln Charter at Cherryville (baseball)

Breakdown: The Lincoln Charter Eagles have been on a tear, outscoring opponents 122-12 on their current nine-game winning streak. Lincoln Charter’s last loss, however, was to Cherryville March 12 in a contest in Denver that saw the Ironmen prevail 2-1 in extra innings. The Eagles were held to just five hits, with Spencer Bright’s game-tying solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning accounting for Lincoln Charter’s only offense. Ace lefty Ryan Restino got the start for the Eagles that night, allowing just one unearned run while striking out five in 5.2 innings.
