A woman who bought new tires for her boyfriend’s vehicle as a Father’s Day didn’t get a thank you. Instead, the man beat her, choked her, then left with their child, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
Jeremy Samuel Paris Sartin, 34, of Bess Chapel Church Road, Cherryville, is being held without bond on charges of first degree kidnapping, assault inflicting serious injury, assault by strangulation and assault on a female.
According to the sheriff’s office, the victim decided to replace the tires on Sartin’s vehicle as a Father’s Day gift Tuesday morning after finishing her overnight shift at work. She said that when she got home and showed Sartin the tires, he hit, kicked and choked her before leaving with their child.
“Deputies arrived on the scene to find the victim with a bruised (and) swollen left eye, bruising on her nose, dried blood on her nostrils, and red marks on her chin, cheek and neck,” according to a sheriff’s office press release. “The woman attempted to flee but Sartin grabbed her around the throat with both hands.”
The victim called 911 after Sartin fled. Deputies took her to the Lincoln County Magistrate’s Office, where she secured a Domestic Violence Protection Order against Sartin. Lincoln County EMS evaluated her and transported her to Atrium Health-Lincoln for treatment.
