Lester Dean Auton

LINCOLNTON – Lester Dean “Bud” Auton, 73, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2018.

He was born April 18, 1945, in Lincoln County to the late Lester Kendell and Catherine Cody Auton.

He served in the U.S. Army and later worked in golf course maintenance.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Kendell Auton.  

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Sherrill Auton; son, Terry Scott Auton of Lincolnton; twin sister, Catherine “Pat” Annas and husband, Phillip; and two grandsons.

Services were held Sept. 26  in the Warlick Funeral Home chapel.

Myles Edgar Workman

LINCOLNTON – Myles Edgar “Pork” Workman, 65, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018.

Workman was born June 16, 1953, in Randolph County, W.Va., to the late Miles Ellis Workman Sr. and Helen Hinchman Workman.

He served in the U.S. Army and later worked in textiles.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Samantha Workman; one brother; and two sisters. Survivors include his wife, Shelia Wilfong Workman; children, Myles E. Workman Jr., Stephanie Vintin and Thomas Workman; four sisters; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held Sept. 23 at Cornerstone Independent Baptist Church.

Billy Gene Marsh

LINCOLNTON – Billy Gene Marsh, 84, died on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018.

He was born March 13, 1934, in Rutherford County, to the late Reidus Gustus Marsh and Emma Biggerstaff Marsh.

He worked as an automobile mechanic.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Lance Chesson Sain.

Survivors include his wife, Karlette Coffey Marsh; son, Billy G. Marsh Jr. and wife, Stephanie, of Lincolnton; daughters, Sharon M. Sain, Annabet M. Hager and husband, Dennis and Karla Marsh and husband, Phillip Southern; brother, Reid Marsh; sister, Kay M. Hawkins; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday, Sept. 22 at River View Baptist Church.

Danielle Joanie Parker

LINCOLNTON – Danielle Joanie Parker, 24, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018.

She was born March 7, 1994, in Catawba County to Scott McRee and Jeannie Parker.

Survivors include her brother, Sean Parker; sister, Hannah Ward; maternal grandparents, Lewis and Betty Parker; and paternal grandmother, Trena McRee of Denver.

Services were held Sept. 25 at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Joshua David Carter

LINCOLNTON – Joshua David Carter, 30, formerly of Lincolnton, died Sept. 14, 2018.

He was born July 16, 1988, in Lincoln County to Todd Steven Carter and Beverly Gail Story.

He worked in shipping.

Survivors include his wife, Christine Carter; daughter, Ella Marie Jarrell; stepdaughter, Ryanna Jane Sergeon; sisters, Krystal Lianne Carter and Serenity Faith Carter of Lincolnton; and maternal grandfather, William Story of Lincolnton.

Services were held Sept. 22 in the Warlick Funeral Home chapel.

Melissa Ann Jacobetz Pickler

LINCOLNTON – Melissa Ann Jacobetz Pickler, 43, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018.

She was born June 23, 1975, in Allegheny County, Penn., to Michael A. Jacobetz and Karen Dearfield.

She worked as a sales specialist for Lowe’s and as a guardian ad litem.

Survivors include her husband, Wesley Brian Pickler; stepmother, Philomena; sons, Brenden Pickler and Timothy Kane III; and brother, Michael A. Jacobetz Jr. and wife, Meredith.

Services were held Sept. 22 in the Warlick Funeral Home chapel.
