Carroll McKinnon Morrell

LINCOLNTON – Carroll McKinnon Morrell, 83, died Sept. 11, 2018.

She was born Sept. 7, 1935, to the late Murray and Sally McKinnon.

She was an artist, known for her watercolors.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Morrell; and son, Stephen Morrell.

Survivors include her son, Robert Morrell Jr. and wife, Marcia; daughter, Sally Morrell Burroughs and husband, Frank; brother, Murray “Mack” McKinnon; sister, Margaret McKinnon Harris; and four grandchildren.

Services were held Sept. 13 at Hollybrook Cemetery and First Baptist Church of Lincolnton.

Carolyn Diane Dalton

LINCOLNTON – Carolyn Diane Dalton, 67, died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018.

Dalton was born Oct. 4, 1950, in Spartanburg, S.C., to the late Randolph Leroy and Erie Lee Holden Dalton.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Leroy Dalton, Buddy Dalton and Frank Dalton; and sisters, Jackie Johnson and Sherry Dalton.

Survivors include her sons, Tim Wilson and wife, Kathy, and Jamie Wilson; sister, Judy Ghantt; two grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.

Services were held Sept. 12 at the First Baptist Church of High Shoals.

Virginia Shidal Houser

LINCOLNTON – Virginia Shidal Houser, 90, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018.

She was born Dec. 24, 1927, in Lincoln County to the late Ed and Nora Harn Shidal.

She retired from teaching with Lincoln County Schools.

Survivors include her daughters, Martha H. Stetz and husband, Jock, and Amy H. Farley and husband, Dyer, of Lincolnton; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were held Sept. 8 at First United Methodist Church.

Ralph Taylor Conner

LINCOLNTON – Ralph Taylor Conner, 95, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2018.

Conner was born April 16, 1923, in Gaston County, to the late B.C. and Mae McGinnis Conner.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and worked as a golf pro at Lincolnton Country Club.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Hoyle Conner; son, Ralph Conner Jr.; and sisters, Bonnie Sigmon and Linda Byers.

Survivors include daughters, Laura Seagle and Donna Morris of Lincolnton; sister, Peggy Heafner of Lincolnton; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held Sept. 7 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel.

William Newton Hicks

LINCOLNTON – William Newton Hicks, 79, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2018.

Hicks was born May 19, 1939, in Cleveland County to the late Arthur and Clarice Howell Hicks. He served in the U.S. Air Force and later worked for Duke Power.

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Rhodes Hicks; daughters, Julie Warden and husband, Dale, and Jennifer Lark and husband, Gary; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held Sept. 2 at Hollybrook Cemetery.

Andrew Eugene Lineberger

LINCOLNTON – Andrew Eugene Lineberger, 58, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018.

Lineberger was born July 1, 1960, in Gaston County to Nora Anne Carpenter Lineberger and the late Jack Lineberger.

He worked as a machine operator in the furniture industry.

He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Debbie Hull, and niece, Keri Carpenter.

Survivors include his mother; wife, Rebecca “Becky” Lineberger; sisters, Patricia Hass and husband, Calvin, and Wanda Corriher and husband, Bill; mother and father-in-law, Jimmy and Mary Heavner of Lincolnton; and sisters-in-law, Lycia Conley of Lincolnton and Holly Pruitt.

Services were held, Sept. 2 at Reepsville Baptist Church with burial following.
