Aaron Singletary and the East Lincoln soccer team won their first two state playoff games.

DENVER – The East Lincoln soccer team defeated East Burke and Wilkes Central to start the 2A state playoffs.

On Saturday, Nov. 3, the 10-seeded Mustangs used two goals from Chase Gilley to defeat No. 23 East Burke. Logan Gilley also had a goal and an assist.

After a 2-2 halftime score at No. 7 Wilkes Central Nov. 6, East Lincoln scored two more in the second half for an upset 4-2 win.

The Mustangs will travel to face second-seeded Surry Central at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8.
