Sylvia Diane Price Moody

LINCOLNTON – Sylvia Diane Price Moody, 71, died June 8, 2018.

She was born Aug. 31, 1946, in Union County to the late Theron W. and Eunice Nash Price.

She retired from the Lincoln County Department of Social Services.

She was preceded in death by a brother, T.W. Price.

Services were held at June 11 at Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

She is survived by her sons, Rick Moody and wife, Renee, Steve Moody and wife, Amy, Bill Moody and Brian Moody and wife, Dawn; sister, Martha Price; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Raymond Jackson Highland

DENVER – Raymond “Jack” Jackson Highland, 77, died June 5, 2018.

He was born May 2, 1941, in Clarksburg, W.Va., to the late Richard and Eva Losh Highland.

He worked for the North Carolina Department of Transportation before retiring.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Highland; and siblings, Kate, Ellen and Jim.

Survivors include his wife, Ronna Homesley Highland; son, Dwaine Mills; stepsons, Kenneth Brooks and Jerry Womble; stepdaughter, Donna Yates; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services were held June 9 at Iron Station Missionary Church.

Faye Carroll Whiteside

LINCOLNTON – Faye Carroll Whiteside, 90, died Sunday, June 3, 2018, at her home.

She was born June 30, 1927, in Killeen, Texas, to the late Leonard Davis Carroll and Addis Lena Farmer Carroll.

She worked as a sales representative for BellSouth.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Whiteside Gillelan, and a grandson.

Survivors include her daughters, Evelyn Whiteside Helms and husband, Jim, and Nancy Whiteside Dutton and husband, Steve; stepson, Bill Whiteside and wife, Deanna; sisters, Irene Schweigert and Lenora Stafford; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services were held June 8 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

Rick R. Rogers

LINCOLNTON – Rick R. Rogers, 64, died June 3, 2018.

He was born June 12, 1953, in Lincoln, Neb., to Jane Wilcox Rogers and the late Emerson Lee Rogers.

He is survived by his mother; wife, Shenandoah Davies Rogers; his children, Seth Rogers of Huntersville, Karissa Eckler and husband, Jared, of Huntersville, Tiffany Grantham and husband, Corey; two grandchildren, Carter and Renly of Woodleaf; and brother, Rodney Rogers.

Services were held June 9 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Barbara Taylor Hartsoe

IRON STATION – Barbara Ann Taylor Hartsoe, 65, died June 2, 2018, at Mission Hospital in Asheville.

She was born May 17, 1953 in Germany to the late Robert and Gladys Bohannon Taylor.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Hartsoe; son, Robert Nicholas, of Pumpkin Center; daughters, Nickie Davis and husband, Brian, Sofie Bushatz and husband, Rick, and Laura Hartsoe; brother, Randy Taylor and wife, Teresa; and six grandchildren.

Services were held June 9 at Covenant Bible Church in Lincolnton.

Dorothy Holder

DENVER – Dorothy Chant Holder, 79, died May 21, 2018, at her home.

She was born Nov. 28, 1938, to the late Elmer Chant and Mary Baer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Holder.

Survivors include her daughters, Marie Parker and husband, Joey, of Stanley, Connie Beatty and husband, Randy, of Stanley and Lynn Fisher and husband, Dane; son, Ronald Holder and wife, Ginger; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services were held May 24 at James Funeral Home.
