James Neil

DENVER – James Neil, 87, died April 10, 2018, at his residence.

He was born to the late William Neil and Catherine Loggie Neil.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from the Long Island (N.Y.) Railroad. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Fendler Neil, and sister, Mary Neil.

Survivors include his son, William “Bill” Neil of Denver; daughters-in-law, Kathy Neil, Patricia “Patty” Revans, Mary Neil-Piece and Lynda Abbott; son-in-law, John Abbott; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held April 21 at Carothers Funeral Home in Stanley.

Memorial may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Lincoln County, 900 Dontia Drive, Lincolnton, NC 28092.

Robin Lawter McGee

LINCOLNTON – Robin Lawter McGee, 62, died April 12, 2018.

She was born July 24, 1955, in Mecklenburg County to the late Arthur and Rosemary Couch Lawter.

She worked for the U.S. Postal Service.

Survivors include her husband, Eddie McGee; daughters, April McMahon and Crystal Dover; brother, Roy Lawter; sister, Lisa Henson; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.  

Services will be held April 21 at 317 Bynum Road in Lincolnton.

Dennis Arthur Stroupe

LINCOLNTON – Dennis Arthur Stroupe, 73, died April 10, 2018.

He was born April 10, 1945, in Gaston County to the late Howard Columbus and Pearly Mae Paysour Stroup.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and worked as an electrician with General Electric.  

He was preceded in death by brothers, Billy Ray Stroup, Louis Stroup, Clarence Herman Stroup, Roy Dean Stroupe and George Paysour; and sister, Diane Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian Crawley Stroupe; daughter, Kelly Lynn Stroupe; sister, Joanne Lutz; and two grandchildren.

Services were held April 13 at the Warlick Funeral Home chapel.

Susan Lucy Dasaro Monti

HUNTERSVILLE – Susan Lucy Dasaro Monti, 90, died April 8, 2018, at her residence.

She was born Feb. 3, 1928, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Joseph and Martha Puma Dasaro. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel G. Monti.


Survivors include her son, Salvatore Monti of Huntersville; two granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter. 

Services were held privately.

Nancy Carolyn Sisk Stallings

LINCOLNTON – Nancy Carolyn Sisk Stallings, 74, died April 8, 2018.

She was born Oct. 24, 1943, in Lincoln County to the late Horace Sisk and Thelma Houk Bartlett.

Survivors include her husband, Alvin Gary Stallings; daughters, Penny White and husband, Roger, Jackie Chapman and husband, Ray, and Kim Key and husband, Kevin; brother, Larry Sisk; sisters, Pam Hicks and Debbie Poovey; and two grandchildren.

Services were held April 10 at McKendree United Methodist Church.

Carolyn Ann Baxter Bowers

SHERRILLS FORD – Carolyn Ann Baxter Bowers, 67, died April 8, 2018, at her residence.

She was born Sept. 14, 1950, in Iredell County to the late Fred Wash Baxter Jr. and

the Reba Pruitt Baxter.

Survivors include her husband, Robey C. Bowers; son, Blake Bowers and wife, Shannon; daughters, Robin Hazelwood, Tammy Small and husband, Timmy, Rhonda Bowers and Patricia Hobbs; sister, Christine Little; sister-in-law, Diane Baxter; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Services were held April 11 at Victory Baptist Church.

Macfie Anderson Caldwell

DENVER – Macfie “Mac” Anderson Caldwell, 84, died April 6, 2018.

He was born Oct. 14, 1933, in Mooresville to the late Henry and Gordon Anderson Caldwell.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran was a teacher and coach for Raleigh-area high schools.

He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Susanne Keenan Caldwell; children, John Michael, Mary Lynne and Christine; sister, Mary Agnes; and four grandchildren.

Services were held April 11 at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church.

Robert Max Miller

LINCOLNTON – Robert Max Miller, 92, died April 4, 2018, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 17, 1926, in McKean County, Penn., to the late Gus Andrew and Helen Gertrude Closser Miller.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and was an elder at Hickory Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Clair Miller, and sister, Eunice Daley.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Toothman Miller; daughters, Judy Miller, Bobbie Seabolt and husband, J.R., Dawn Harrison and husband, Jay; five grandchildren; and

four great-grandchildren.

Services were held April 8 at Mountain Island Church of Christ in Charlotte.
