Jackie Lewis Bumgarner

MAIDEN – Jackie “Jack” Lewis Bumgarner, 77, died April 8, 2018, at Atrium Health in Lincolnton.

He was born Jan. 25, 1941, in Catawba County, to the late Lloyd and Alda Drum Bumgarner.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Services were held April 11 at Maiden City Cemetery.

Patricia Ann Ward Talbert

LINCOLNTON – Patricia Ann Ward Talbert, 77, died Wednesday, April 4, 2018.

She was born July 30, 1940, in Lincoln County to the late Miles Rush Ward and Nettie Benfield Ward. 

She retired from Technibuilt. 

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Grier Talbert, and three brothers, Ralph Ward, Bud Ward and Larry Ward. 

Survivors include her five sons, Terry Lee Talbert and partner, Alice Abernethy, Bobby Ray Talbert and partner, Mickey Price, James Todd Talbert, Michael Shane Talbert and wife, Shaye, and Gary Grahl and wife, Darlene; two daughters, Cathy Talbert Houser and husband, Bryan, and Louann Talbert Franz and husband, Joe; two brothers, Gearld Ward and Seibert Ward; three sisters, Judy McCombee, Brenda Nantz and Sandy Linder; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held April 6 at Sharon Baptist Church.

Richard Lee Sain

LINCOLNTON – Richard Lee Sain, 62, died Tuesday, April 3, 2018.

He was born March 16, 1956, in Lincoln County to the late Loy Clay “Pete” Sain and Jessie Mae Harrison Sain. 

He worked in appliance repair.

Survivors include his wife, Debra Zelrick Sain; two sons, Bradley Clay Sain and Ryan Sain; a daughter, Haley S. Hutchinson; one sister, Crystal Sain; and seven grandchildren. 

Services were held April 7 at Pisgah United Methodist Church.

Davis Clay Sherrill

CHERRYVILLE – Davis Clay Sherrill, 5 months, died Monday, April 2, 2018.

He was born Oct. 25, 2017, in Gaston County to Clay and Jamie Rhodes Sherrill.

Survivors include his sister, Ella Rhyan; two brothers, Nick and Will; paternal grandparents, Joey and Carole Sherrill of Lincolnton; maternal grandparents, Phil and Betsy Rhodes; and maternal great-grandmother, Rachel Ballanger.

The family is planning a private graveside service.

Annie Mae Smith Daves

LINCOLNTON – Annie Mae Smith Daves, 88, died Monday, April 2, 2018.

She was born March 10, 1930, to the late Oscar P. and Cora Lee Denton Smith. 

She was a seamstress. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Daves, and a son, Dennis Lee Daves.

Survivors include a daughter, Dana Norman and husband, Jerry; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. 

Services were held April 5 at the Lincolnton Church of God.

Summer Elizabeth Barber

LINCOLNTON – Summer Elizabeth Barber, 18, Sunday, April 1, 2018.

She was born May 24, 1999, in Mecklenburg County to Johnny Barber and Betty Ann Beal. 

She was a student at Lincolnton High School where she was enrolled in the nursing credentials class. 

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Guy F. Beal and Missie Beal.

Survivors include her mother, Betty Ann Beal; her father, Johnny Barber; step-sister, Chasity Barber; paternal grandparents, Elizabeth and Johnny Paul Barber; and uncle and aunt, Chris and Ann Beal.

Services were held April 5 at Asbury United Methodist Church.

Patricia Marie Hissom

DENVER – Patricia Marie Hissom, 69, died Saturday, March 31, 2018.

She was born June 21, 1948, in Antioch, Ohio, to the late Norman and Ruth Doherty Houge.

She was an office manager for a glass company.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Bill.

Survivors include her husband, Robert “Bob” W. Hissom Jr.; sisters, Carolyn and Kaye; stepdaughter, Lori; and a step-grandson.

Services were held April 6 at The Good Samaritan Funeral Home.

Malcolm Clyde Campbell

DENVER – Malcolm Clyde Campbell, 80, died March 28, 2018.

He was born July 25, 1937, in Chicago to the late William James Campbell and Barbara LaRouche Campbell.

He was a sheriff’s deputy in Ocala, Fla., and was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by five older brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Katheryn Campbell; daughters, Lisa Marie Bishop and husband, Will, and Melissa Christen Campbell; and three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.  

Services were held April 8 at St. Peter-by-the-Lake Episcopal Church.

Shirley Ann Weaver Withers

SUNRISE, Fla. – Shirley Ann Weaver Withers, 82, died Friday, March 23, 2018, at Sunrise Health and Rehab Center.

She was born Jan. 10, 1936, to the late Buford and Malta McIntyre Weaver.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne “Neal” O’Neal Withers; two brothers, Alvin and Donald Weaver; one sister, Marjorie Blanton, parents-in-law, Wade and Lucille Withers; and brother-in-law, Mickey Withers.

Survivors include her three sons, Wayne Withers Jr. and wife, Nancy, Timothy Withers and Michael Withers and wife, Janice; sisters-in-law, Helen Crowell and husband, George, and Jean Withers of Denver; and four grandchildren.

Services were held April 7 at First Baptist Church in Maiden.
