A subsidiary of U.S. Technologies Corp. plans to shutter a Lincoln County manufacturing facility, which will lead to the loss of 220 jobs, according to a filing with the N.C. Department of Commerce.

UTC Fire & Security Americas Corp. will close its plant at 3211 Progress Drive in Lincolnton, it disclosed in an April 4 Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act filing.

The closing will be effective June 7, the company said.

“This action follows a thorough evaluation of our manufacturing operations and is intended to address the challenges the business faces in a rapidly changing industry,” the plant’s human resources manager, Sarah Satkus, wrote in a letter accompanying the filing.
