TERRELL – Following the retirement of the Rev. Bob Kerr, Rehobeth United Methodist Church has a new pastor.

Michael Rich comes from Faith United Methodist Church in Waynesville, where he was the part-time pastor for two years.

Rich has served as the director of communications for the Western Conference of the North Carolina United Methodist Church since 2014, according to his LinkedIn page. He earned his Master’s in Divinity from Duke University and has a Ph.D. in recreation from University of Maryland.

 

Church hosting movie night

DENVER – Church at Denver will host its fourth Summer Movie Night Aug. 3 at Rescue Squad Park.

The animated movie “Ferdinand” starts at dusk, but games, which includes a bounce house, will be available starting at 7 p.m. All ages are welcome to the event that also includes the Sugar Shack food truck, the Chick-fil-A cow and free popcorn and drinks.

Unity invites families to event

DENVER – Families with children through elementary school age are invited to Growing Families Bounce House Adventure 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday, July 14, at Unity Presbyterian Church.

The event offers some time out of the sun in the church’s Children & Youth Center to visit with one another, and kids can jump on the bounce houses and eat popsicles.

Unity Presbyterian is at 8210 Unity Church Road.

 

Time Lab VBS coming to Westport

DENVER – Registration is available for Vacation Bible School, which runs Sunday, July 15, through Friday, July 20, at Westport Baptist Church.

The theme is “Time Lab: Discovering Jesus from Eternity Past to Eternity Future.” Sessions run 6-9 p.m. each day at the church, 2372 S. Lake Shore Road.
