DAVIDSON – There will be a Shabbat of Peace, Togetherness and Wholeness 6-7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at Temple Kol Tikvah in the wake of the recent shooting in a synagogue in Pittsburgh.
“We are grateful for the outpouring of support from friends and neighbors,” a Temple Kol Tikvah Facebook post states. “As we all know so profoundly, words matter and can have a tremendous impact.”
All are welcome to the prayer service at 6 p.m., followed by a 7 p.m. candlelight vigil.

Unity group going to Troutman
DENVER – The Prime Timers at Unity Presbyterian Church will travel to Julia's Talley House in Troutman Nov. 15 for lunch.
The lunch buffet is $9.40, including tax. Following lunch, those who wish will continue on to for a winery tour and tasting at Daveste Vineyards, which is about 10 minutes from Talley House.
Those interested in carpooling should indicate on the sign-up sheet, which will be in the Unity gathering area Sunday, Nov. 4.
Help needed for Servants event
DENVER – Denver United Methodist Church is searching for volunteers for its Servants with a Heart event on Nov. 11.

Rehobeth selling barbecue
TERRELL – Rehobeth United Methodist Church is having its barbecue sale 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 10 at the church.
The cost is $10 per adult for family style and $5 for children younger than 10. For takeout, sandwiches are $5 for sandwiches, and plates are $10. Visa and MasterCard are accepted.
