Robert Franklin Ross

LINCOLNTON – Robert Franklin Ross, 90, died Dec. 25, 2017.

He was born Sept. 12, 1927, to the late Benjamin and Pearl Heafner Ross. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Scism Ross; sisters, Mildred King, Liz Ross, Frances Ballenger and Nell Rhodes; brothers, Henry Ross, Fred Ross, Grady Ross, John Ross and Benjamin Ross; and one step-grandchild. 

He was a U.S. Army veteran and worked as a supervisor in the furniture industry.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Ross Webb and husband, Mackie; stepdaughter, Joyce Williams and husband, Rodney; stepson, Fred Mullinax and wife, Kathy; brother, Floyd Ross; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; and seven step-grandchildren.

Services were held Dec. 28 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel.

Libby Reinhardt Rikard

LINCOLNTON – Libby Reinhardt Rikard, 76, died Dec. 26, 2017.

She was born March 16, 1941, to the late Sam and Ida Miller Reinhardt. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Milton Rikard; son, Butch Rikard; brothers, H. Reinhardt, Loyd Reinhardt and Jay Reinhardt; and sister, Ina Oats.

Survivors include her son, Tracy Rikard; daughter, Sharon Rikard Pinckney; sister, Shirley Strickland; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held Dec. 29 in the Warlick Funeral Home chapel.

Carolyn Turner Costner

LINCOLNTON – Carolyn Turner Costner, 97, died Dec. 25, 2017. 

She was born July 26, 1920, in High Point to the late Dewey Harris Turner and Macie Marshall Turner. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Huitt Costner; and sisters, Evelyn Turner Aycock, Marilyn Turner Henderson and Christine Turner Russell.

Survivors include her son, Harry Huitt Costner Jr.; daughter, Cecelia Costner Smith and husband, Joe Christopher Smith; sister, Eleanor Turner Brinkley; four grandsons; and five great-grandchildren.

Services were held Dec. 28 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lincolnton.

Andrew John Scriven

DENVER – Andrew John Scriven, 57, died Dec. 24, 2017.

He was born on April 23, 1960, in England to the late John Albert and Jean Schulp Scriven. 

He worked as chief designer with Onroak North America.

Survivors include his sister, Judith Shapland and husband, Roger.

Barbara Sue Reynolds Michael

IRON STATION – Barbara Sue Reynolds Michael, 76, died Dec. 23, 2017, in the Brian Center in Lincolnton.

She was born June 20, 1941, in Lincoln County to the late Colan Blease Reynolds and Pauline Brite Gardner Hawkins. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmettt Michael.

Survivors include her sons, Randy Michael and wife, Anna, Steve Michael and wife, Missy; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Richard Worth Mosteller

LINCOLNTON – Richard “Dick” Worth Mosteller, 92, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017, at Peak Resources in Cherryville.

He was born March 22, 1925, in Lincoln County to the late Henry and Cora Inez Boyles Mosteller. 

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired from the trucking industry.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie Sue Sain Mosteller; son, Dale Mosteller and wife, Beth; brothers, Miller Mosteller, Benny Mosteller and Jerry Mosteller; sisters, Ibera M. Setzer, Mary Frances “Myrt” Kistler and Nancy M. Beaver; one grandson; and two great-grandsons.

Services were held Dec. 26 at Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Jackie Wayne Anderson

MOORESVILLE – Jackie Wayne Anderson, 81, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017.

He was born June 1, 1936, in Rowan County to the late Marshall E. “Shorty” and Emma Rex Anderson.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his daughter, Crystal Johnson and husband, Rick; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Services were held Dec. 30 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Mt. Ulla.

She was born April 15, 1943, in Iredell County to the late John and Helen Knox.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Caracciolo; and sisters, Bice Simoni, Velia Carulli.

MOORESVILLE – Frank Musarra, 97, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2017, at Autumn Care of Cornelius.

He was born on Feb. 28, 1920, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Salvatore and Concetta Accardi Musarra. 

He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Margi Musarra, and seven of his 10 brothers and sisters.

HUNTERSVILLE – Edmond Oliver Marlow, 94, died Dec. 24, 2017.

He was born Sept. 25, 1923, Hattiesburg, Miss., to the late Xer Davidson and Edmond Oliver Marlow IV.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and worked as a project engineer for the U.S. Department of Defense.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite Mathis Marlow, and son-in-law, Roger Paul Hagan and wife, Lynn.

Survivors include his daughters, Lynn Marlow, Cindy Curtis and husband, Luke, and Jean Buffum and husband, Dan, of Huntersville; and four grandchildren.

Services were held Dec. 28 in North Augusta, S.C.

HUNTERSVILLE – Deborah Kay Hawkins Garcia, 65, died Dec. 24, 2017, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

She was born Feb. 26, 1952, in Baltimore to the late Herbert Hoover Hawkins and Lottie Elizabeth Tallman Hawkins.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Little and Junior Hawkins.

Survivors include her son, Mark.

Services will be held at the Church of God of the Bible at a later date.
