Rachel Alice McConnell

LINCOLNTON – Rachel Alice “Shortie” McConnell died Monday, Nov. 13, 2017, at Sherrills Ford Hospice House.

She was born April 25, 1938, in Lincolnton to the late Ted and Lillie Eurey. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady “Jud” McConnell; son, Jamie Kent McConnell; and a great-granddaughter.

Survivors include her daughter, Jeanene McConnell of Lincolnton; sister, Mallie E. Heavner and husband, Don, of Lincolnton; brother, Ted Eurey and wife, Mary Ann; daughter-in-law, Frankie McConnell; brother-in-law, Louis McConnell and wife, Barbara, of Lincolnton; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. 

Services were held Nov. 17 at First Presbyterian Church in Lincolnton.

Jerry Michael Dellinger

IRON STATION – Jerry Michael Dellinger, 77, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017.

He was born April 13, 1940, in Lincoln County to the late Samuel Tunison and Margaret Michael Dellinger. 

Survivors include his wife, Teresa Diane Hicks Dellinger; son, Scott Dellinger and wife, Wanda; brother, George Dellinger and wife, Jean, of Iron Station; and three grandchildren.

Services will be held at a later date.

Jerry Allen Smith

LINCOLNTON – Jerry Allen Smith, 49, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017.

Jerry was born June 4, 1968, in Lincoln County to Jerry Lee Smith and Mildred Smith Holman. 

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Reep Smith; two daughters, Jessica Evans and husband, Daniel, of Vale, and Ashley Smith; his parents and stepmother, Linda Smith, of Lincolnton; two brothers, Scotty Lee Smith and Johnny Smith and wife, Tammy, of Lincolnton; sister, Clorressa Smith of Vale; three stepbrothers, Keith Holman and wife, Carrie, Steve Holman of Lincolnton, and Mac Holman and wife, Libby; a stepsister, Patricia Davey; and two grandchildren.

Services were held Nov. 15 at Crowell United Methodist Church.
