Elvie Huffstetler Gordon

LINCOLNTON – Elvie Huffstetler Gordon, 77, died Jan. 10, 2017.

She was born April 26, 1939, in Gaston County, to the late Edgar Ray Huffstetler and Willie Mae Eades Huffstetler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel R. Gordon; daughter, Marcia Gordon; and son, Sammy Gordon.

Survivors include her daughters, S. Gaye Knight and Caprice Gordon; son, Joel Gordon; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Jan. 14 at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Rachel Elizabeth Baker Loftin

LINCOLNTON – Rachel Elizabeth Baker Loftin, 92, died Jan. 6, 2017.

She was born May 16, 1924, in Lincoln County, to the late Hugh and Eunice Abernathy Baker.

She worked in textiles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Roy Loftin Sr.; and son, Buddy Loftin.

Survivors include her daughter, Judy Loftin Harkey; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services were held Jan. 10 in the High Shoals Memorial Gardens.

Betty Louise Ramsey Sain

LINCOLNTON – Betty Louise Ramsey Sain, 66, died Jan. 6, 2017.

She was born Nov. 3, 1950, in Rock Hill, S.C., to the late Clyde and Allie Mae Walker Ramsey.

She worked in textiles.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Sain; sons, Brian Rains and Charles Davis; daughter, Celisa Bennett; sisters, Rena Lanier, Veronica Huffman and Rita Carpenter; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Jan. 10 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel.

LINCOLNTON – Elizabeth McVickers Ezzelle, 69, died Jan. 2, 2017,

She was born Jan. 19, 1947, in Buncombe County.

She worked as a lab tech in textiles.

Survivors include her husband, John Ezzelle; daughters, Susan Sanders, Shannon Hull, Bobbie Jo Parks; sons, Ben Kendricks, and Robert Lovelace; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be private.

Joyce Chastain Robinson

LINCOLNTON – Joyce Chastain Robinson, 82, died Dec. 31, 2016.

She was born July 20, 1934, in Gaston County, to the late William Clarence and Reba Hollifield Chastain.

She worked as a teacher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Clayton Robinson.

Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Robinson; son, William Cary Robinson; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life was held Jan. 7 at Banner Elk Presbyterian Church.

LINCOLNTON – James Allan Vansickle, 89, died Dec. 29, 2016.

He was born Sept. 27, 1927, in Sacramento, Ken., to the late Robert and Elsie Short Vansickle.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Love Vansickle; sons, James A. Vansickle Jr. and Kenneth R. Vansickle.

Funeral services were held Jan. 2 at First Baptist Church.

She was born Aug. 2, 1952, in Lincoln County, to the late Johnny and Lena Richard Waters.

She worked in human resources for American Efird.

Survivors include her sons, Johnny Warlick and Shannon Warlick; daughters, Angela Howard and Lisa Warlick; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
