DAVIDSON – The community fundraising campaign to support the construction of the Cain Center for the Arts in Cornelius is well beyond the halfway point toward its $25 million goal.
At the Davidson town board’s July 23 meeting, as part of his continuing effort to emphasize the regional scope of the planned facility, Cain Center Executive Director Justine Dionne told commissioners $15 million was the next plateau for the drive.
Sharing his vision for the center as a “cultural and community hub” for a four-county region, Dionne said the schematic design phase of the project is progressing. And he reminded the board members and the audience that the planned amenities – including a 400-seat theatre, art gallery and community meeting space – are intended to host professional performances as well as local group gatherings and presentations.
