LangTree Live concert

LangTree Live is one of several free outdoor concerts around Lake Norman.

1. The music 'Mingling' begins this week

The first Birkdale Village Mingling on the Greens show is 7-9 p.m. Friday, May 31. Mingling is the area’s most extensive series, holding concerts every Friday and Saturday night through Aug. 25. Aerial View Band is the first of the 2019 season’s 25-date lineup. Those planning to attend are invited to bring a chair or a blanket.

2. Huntersville’s LaLaCaboosa returns

LaLaCaboosa Downtown Music Series is back for a second year in Huntersville’s Veterans Park at Main & Maxwell starting June 13. The name is a play on the longtime music festival LollaPalooza in Chicago, with a local nod to the caboose that makes the park home. This family-friendly series takes place once a month on Thursdays or Fridays from 6:30-9 p.m. Spectators can bring lawn chairs and blankets to the park at 101 Huntersville-Concord Road. Performance dates are as follows: June 13, Chunky Daddy; July 11, Trey Calloway; Aug. 8, The Entertainers; Sept. 27: Pursey Kerns; Oct. 11, Pushh.

3. Davidson’s is on Sundays

The Concerts on the Green series is held 6-8 p.m. in downtown Davidson on seven more Sundays through mid-September. As has become tradition, the series got underway with a show in April by the Davidson College Symphony and Jazz Ensemble, and the student group will also close out the 2019 schedule. On June 2, the Party Party Band takes the green’s stage to perform Jimmy Buffett songs. There is a special July 4 show, which is a Thursday, featuring ‘70s throwback group Da Throwback Band. For more information and the full schedule, visit concertsonthegreen.com.

4. LangTree Live is also underway

LangTree Live, LangTree Lake Norman’s weekly summer concert series, takes place every Thursday through September. The first concert of the fifth season was May 2, and this week it welcomes Gal Friday, who plays Southern gospel, rock, bluegrass and country music. The shows at Langtree, 401 Langtree Road, Mooresville, take place 7-9 p.m. but there are festivities starting at 5 p.m. The concerts are kid- and dog-friendly, and no outside coolers are allowed. And every other Thursday there will be a raffle for a free sunset boat tour.

5. Music on Main is downtown

The 2019 Our Town Stage outdoor concert series in Mooresville will hold its second Music on Main June 7, featuring The Legacy Motown Revue. Music on Main is every first Friday of the month through October, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Mooresville Town Hall lawn and July 3 at the Lowe’s YMCA. The first Music on Main concert kicked off May 3 with beach music favorites The Catalinas, who got shaggers and line dancers on their feet while others settled back and enjoyed the music.
