CORNELIUS – The chorus program at Hough High School has had students singing at prestigious events across the state and country during the 2018-19 school year.
Several students were selected for the annual Mars Hill College Choral Festival. These students traveled to Asheville and Mars Hill earlier this month. There, they were able to work with prestigious choral conductor Z. Randall Stroope.
The students participating in the program were: Anne Alexander, soprano 2; Cley Butler, tenor 1; Jack Bruce, tenor 1; Shira Edwards, alto 2; Olivia Joyner, soprano 1; Julia Leeman, soprano 2; and Sophia Leeman, alto.
Sisters Sophia and Julia Leeman were both selected as members of the National Association for Music Education’s 2018 All-National Honor Ensembles. The Leeman girls also made it into the N.C. Musical Educators Association High School Honors Chorus, which was held in Winston Salem in November.
And the Howlin' Huskies at Hough have been preparing for their upcoming competition season, specifically their very first national level competition in March for "Heart of America" in Nashville, Tenn.
