The Huntersville Fire Department held grand opening festivities for its new fire station on Saturday, May 12. The department's Station 4 at 8826 McIlwaine Drive is a 11,800-square-foot, two-and-a-half vehicle bay facility that will house and engine and ladder company and be staffed 24 hours a day to serve the southern part of town.

At the grand opening, ribbon cutting and flag presentation ceremonies were held and then visitors were welcome to take part in guided tours of the $4.3 million station and enjoy a barbecue lunch prepared on site.
