HUNTERSVILLE – Predicted stormy weather stayed away from the kid-friendly version of the Huntersville Growers’ Market on June 8.

On “Little Chef's Day,” three separate hour-long sessions gave groups of young cooks the chance to prepare their own snacks under the direction of chef Matt Hughett – also the market's manager – while vendors provided food and other items for market visitors.

The Huntersville market is held every Saturday through Aug. 24 from 8 a.m. to noon at Veterans Park at Main & Maxwell, 201 Huntersville-Concord Road. In addition to the weekly collection of vendors – offering locally grown produce, flowers, farm-raised meats, dog treats, craft items and more, all accompanied by live music – the market also features weekly themes.

In the coming weeks, the market will feature a tribute to Father's Day (June 15), Homemade Soda Day (June 22) and Keep It Spicy Day (June 29).

Complete details about the market, operated by the town's parks and recreation department, and regular updates can be found at the Huntersville Growers' Market page on Facebook.
