CHARLOTTE – Huntersville resident Austin Bristow will be one of 12 featured speakers at this year’s TEDx Charlotte event. Bristow will deliver an address about self-discipline and steps toward personal freedom at the Friday, Oct. 12 program at Halton Theatre on Elizabeth Avenue.

TEDx Charlotte is a local arm of the TED organization, a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas through short talks. TED, named for the organization’s original focus on technology, entertainment and design, now includes talks on a wide range of subjects.

To be selected, Bristow, a data analyst, underwent auditions and participated in six weeks of coaching and feedback, culminating with a final audition before a panel of judges. The speaker lineup consists of 12 individuals presenting on topics ranging from optimism to tackling alzheimer's disease.

Tickets are sold out but a live stream of the event will be available at www.tedxcharlotte.com.
