Lake Norman Charter golf regional

Lake Norman Charter won the 2A Midwest regional at Pilot Knob Park Course in Pilot Mountain May 6.

The Lake Norman Charter golf team qualified for the 2A state championship by winning the Midwest Regional May 6.

The Knights shot a combined 294 at the par-70 Pilot Knob Park Course in Pilot Mountain, 15 lower than second-place Forbush. Freshman Ben Bailey tied for first with a 72, as sophomore Carter Busse was third, shooting a 73.

Jace Arko was tied for fourth at 74, while Will Dalton tied for ninth with a 75. Ian Johnson rounded out the Knights’ scoring with an 80, tying for 22nd. The Knights shot a new team-low for regionals.

The 2A State Championship is May 13-14 in Pinehurst at Longleaf Golf Club.

LNC also won the South Fork 2A conference championship. Eric Johnson was named South Fork Coach of the Year, and four landed on the all-conference team.
