Lake Norman Little League softball

HUNTERSVILLE – Lake Norman Little League’s 8-10-year-old softball all-stars won the North Carolina Little League state championship July 11.

After defeating Coul Oak twice to capture the N.C. District 3 title June 23 in Cornelius, Lake Norman traveled to Sophia in Randolph County and went undefeated in the state tournament. Lake Norman defeated Northwest Forsyth in the opening round then Rowan in the semifinals and championship game to bring home the state banner.

Lake Norman will now represent North Carolina in the Southeast Region Tournament in Clarksville, Tenn., beginning Saturday, July 20, competing against the champions of Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.

The all-stars consist of Kelly Rogers, Tatum Krolak, Emma Rette, Amelia Rogers, Emery Jensen, Delaney Bruderek, Ava Cornacchione, Reese Horton, Morgan Gadd, Peyton Parrish, Payton Elwell, Sydney Gillmore and Kate Shryock.

The team is coached by John Cornacchione, Aaron Rogers and Todd Elwell.
