HUNTERSVILLE – Historic Latta Plantation will host a Valentine’s Day celebration with a Victorian flair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, on the grounds and in the house of the living-history site.
Students and visitors can learn about 19th century holiday traditions through a variety of immersive activities: the language of the fan, including making a paper fan to take home; English country dancing, with musicians playing authentic tunes; an exhibit of vintage valentines; and demonstrations of baking, blacksmithing, taffy pulling, spinning and more.
There will also be story time in a cabin, and Anna’s Sweet Treats food truck will be on site.
The circa-1800 plantation home will be open, but regular guided house tours will not be available.
Admission for the event is $6 per person. Latta members and children ages 4 and younger are free. For more information, call 704-875-2312 or visit www.lattaplantation.org.
