Thank you for the article on carpool traffic on Bailey’s Road.

I contacted the school asking for their bus schedules to help with navigating the traffic as pick up times can vary beyond the posted time frames. The school responded saying that was privileged information for parents and students only, for security reasons.

I’m not sure why that is with this being public transportation but many residents, share in this frustration.

Thank you for publishing a readers concerns on the school car pool queues on Bailey Rd. It echoes the concerns of many residents of the area. I don't believe that Sgt. Jeff Connors statement that "residents near the school will simply have to learn when the school traffic is and when is the best time to travel" is an acceptable answer.

Sgt. Connors' response to the proposal that parents stage in the parking lot of Bailey Park is not valid. He said "it would make things difficult for those actually going for recreation". Those actually going for recreation can't park there because the parking lot is full with student parking! The Bailey Park parking lot has become an extension of the school student parking lot. This is an additional issue to the existing situation.

Practically speaking there is only one viable solution. The parents should put their little darlings on the bus. Certainly there are times when parental transportation is necessary, but every day?  As Sgt. Connors correctly stated, it would help if carpoolers simply "put your kids on the bus".

Is there any place someone could find the names of the people that approved the Cintra contract?   It would be appreciated to see who was behind this travesty.

It is not illegal to flash your bright lights to warn fellow travelers about a speed trap.  There is no law in NC against it. The ACLU took a case to Federal Court a few years ago and the judge ruled it is a form of free speech protected by the First Amendment.  There have been other similar judgments. A cop might stop you and give you a ticket for something else but he can't give you a ticket for flashing your brights. Check your facts before you post please - it peeves me when you don't!

Since when is it ok for a Policeman in Cornelius to have a massive wad of chewing tobacco in his mouth as he writes a citation? People at my place of work don’t smoke inside. They have designated areas. This is a disgusting foul habit that should not be allowed during working hours. Especially by policeman employed by our town! Better yet—instead of idly crusing neighborhoods—go arrest a drug dealer. Even BETTER— stake out the HIGHLIFE in Cornelius — the business in our world class city that everyone is turning a blind eye too.

There are no rules, there is no ticket. For a low IQ, for not using a turn signal, for cutting off others, or running a red light. Ever witness a red light runner and see a cop chase them down? Speeding tickets are not written during rush hours. All lights and safety features should be optional (violators only). NASCAR wannabees are encouraged.
