Marshall Lawrence McElhaney

MOUNT HOLLY – Marshall Lawrence McElhaney, 83, died Nov. 27, 2018.

He was born March 6, 1935, to the late Sadie Louise Wallace and Hazel Lawrence McElhaney. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Queen McElhaney; two sisters; and two brothers.

Survivors include his daughters, Carol Foard and husband, Donald, and Vicki Cauthen and husband, Tim; sister-in-law, Melinda McElhaney; and four granddaughters.

Services were held Dec. 1 at Hopewell Presbyterian Church.

G. Bradford Davis

HUNTERSVILLE – G. Bradford Davis, 88, died Nov. 26, 2018, in Huntersville.

He was born Oct. 24, 1930, in Worcester, Mass., to the late Frank and Elsie Davis.

He worked for Marine Midland Bank and retired as the bank’s vice president and district manager for Regional Corporate Banking.

Survivors include his wife, Minerva Sarando Davis; children, Gary B. Davis and wife, Sherri, Jeffrey P. Davis and wife, Catherine, of Huntersville, and Catherine Davis Ingersoll, and husband, Paul; sisters, Janet Jones and Lois-Ann Whitney; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Sharon Helms

CORNELIUS – Sharon Helms, 71, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018. 

She was born Feb. 1, 1947, to Jonni Helms Catlett and the late Warren Helms.

She retired from the American Cancer Society.

Survivors include her daughters, Stephanie Sparks and spouse, Doug, and Meredith Williams; siblings, Cynthia Adams, and spouse, Don, John Helms, and spouse, Mary, Kimberly Smith and spouse, Scott, and Kevin Helms; and three grandchildren.

Services were held Dec. 1 at James Funeral Home.

Patricia Coffee

HUNTERSVILLE – Patricia Coffee, 70, died Nov. 25, 2018, in Huntersville.

She was born Dec. 17, 1947.

She was a registered nurse at St. Mary’s hospital for more than 35 years.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack Reed and John Reed. 

Survivors include her husband, Lou; daughters, Lisa Fortner and husband, Ben, and Gwen Pate and husband, Doug, of Huntersville; sister, Debbie Reed; and six grandchildren.

No services were held.

Memorials may be made in the fight against cancer.

Joan Karslake Beauchamp

CORNELIUS – Joan Karslake Beauchamp, 79, died Nov. 25, 2018, at her home.

She was born in Evanston, Ill., to the late Katherine King and Frank Gookin Karslake. 

She worked as educational coordinator for the YWCA Child Care Program.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Karslake.

Survivors include her husband, Jim; daughter, Kathy Malone and husband, Jim; daughter, Julie Klugh and husband, Tom, of Cornelius; son, Jim Beauchamp; brothers, Dick and Bill Karslake; sister, Kay White; and three grandchildren.

Services will be held in in Chautauqua, N.Y., in summer 2019.

Andres Morales

HUNTERSVILLE – Andres Morales, 16, died Nov. 24, 2018.

He was a student at Hopewell High School.

Survivors include his parents, Billy and Andrea Hagler; siblings, Dylan and Bradley; and grandparents, Lewis and Patsy Hagler, Mary and Nick Cornejo and Guillermo Morales.

Services were held Nov. 24 at James Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to a GoFundMe trust in Andres’ name for school supplies for local schools.

Stephen Kenji Takahashi

DAVIDSON – Stephen Kenji Takahashi, 71, died Nov. 23, 2018.

He was born on Oct. 28, 1947, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Yataro and June Takahashi.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Rita Slanina Takahashi; son, William and wife, Alison; daughters, Elizabeth Hammer and husband, Joseph, Rebecca Takahashi and husband, Brian Yerys, of Davidson, Meredith Takahashi and husband, Drew Vance, and Stephenie Manns and husband, Lonnie; sister, Elizabeth Moy and husband, Mun; and 13 grandchildren.

Services were held Nov. 30 at St. Mark Catholic Church.
