DAVIDSON – David Bryant Chapman, 44, died Feb. 4, 2019.

He was born May 16, 1974, in Richmond, Va., to Rita Chapman and the late Robert Chapman.

He owned Go Copper Roofing Company.

Survivors include his mother; daughter, Alden Perez; son, Eli Chapman and mother, Jody; sister, Tammy Atkinson and husband, Edward; brother, Ricky Chapman and wife, Heather; and two grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 9 at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home.

Shelley Christie Brandt

HUNTERSVILLE – Shelley Christie Brandt, 45, died Feb. 2, 2019.

She was born June 28, 1973, in Statesville to Herman and Diane Christie.

She worked for Ingersoll Rand in Davidson.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Audrey and Bob Christie, and maternal grandparents, Lucy and Roy Dison.

Survivors include her husband, Eric; sister, Dana Christie Knight; brothers-in-law, David Knight and Carl Brandt; and mother- and father-in-law, Ann and Ralph Brandt.

Services were held Feb 7 at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home.

David Scott Melin

HUNTERSVILLE – David Scott Melin, 43, died Feb. 1, 2019.

He was born Feb. 2, 1975, in Waukesha County, Wisc., to Kenneth Melin and the late Dolores Melin.

Survivors include his father; wife, Michelle; daughters, Reagan and Jenna; brother, Steve and wife, Brittany; and two grandsons.

Services were held Feb. 10 at James Funeral Home.

Michael Zitnik

HUNTERSVILLE – Michael Zitnik, 27, died Jan. 30, 2019.

He was born March 19, 1991, in Charlotte to Richard and Norma Zitnik.

Survivors include his brothers, Christopher Zitnik and Stephen Zitnik; and sister, Marina Zitnik of Huntersville.

Services were held Feb. 3 at James Funeral Home and Feb. 4 at St. Mark Catholic Church.

Kenneth Wayne Caldwell

CORNELIUS – Kenneth Wayne “Buddy” Caldwell, 70, died Jan. 29, 2019, at his home.

He was born Feb. 15, 1949, in Mooresville to the late Ruth Archer and Kenneth Mell Caldwell.

He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Vivian Caldwell, and infant daughter, Emily Rebecca.

He played three seasons of professional baseball and later worked in banking.

Survivors include his wife, Judith Kelly Caldwell; daughter, Elizabeth Coker and husband, Sam, of Cornelius; son, Ken and wife, Hope; son, Kevin and wife, Lynn, of Huntersville; sisters, Elaine McArn and husband, Jerry, and Becky Brown and husband, Emery; and six grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 2 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to the Buddy Caldwell NMHS Legacy Fund, 17002 Island View Drive, Cornelius, NC 28031, to provide improvements to the baseball facility at North Mecklenburg High School.

Katharine Emmalee Vowell Horn

DAVIDSON – Katharine “Kathy” Emmalee Vowell Horn, 59, died Jan. 29, 2019, at her home.

She was born Nov. 19, 1959, to Jacqueline Palmieri Bruce and Joseph Walter Vowell.

Survivors include her parents; husband, Jeff Horn; sons, Zachary Horn and Samuel Horn; sisters, Susan Berg and husband, Jeffrey, Julie Kelsey and husband, Charley, and Kimberly Lesher and husband, Jeffrey; sister-in-law, Susan Lewis; and brother-in-law, John Horn and wife, Cori.

Services were held Feb. 8 at St. Mark Catholic Church.

HUNTERSVILLE – Anne Stelzer Childs, 88, died Jan. 29, 2019, at Olde Knox Commons.

She was born June 23, 1930, in Morgantown, W.Va., to the late Roland and Muriel Stelzer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Leigh Childs.

Survivors include her sons, Robert Childs Jr. and Mark Childs and wife, Margot; daughters, Elaine Whittaker and husband, Arthur, Jan Komjian and husband, Donald, of Huntersville, Dawn Childs and Becki McKenzie and husband, Billy; siblings, John, Carolyn and Walter; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services were held privately.

Kenneth Sheiley Coley Jr.

DAVIDSON – Kenneth Sheiley Coley Jr., 87, died Jan. 28, 2019.

He was born March 5, 1931, in Locust to the late Kenneth and Eula Coley.

He was a retired CPA.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Coley; daughter, Julia Harrison and husband, Colin; sons, Kent Coley III and Greg Coley and wife, Allison; and three grandchildren.

He was born May 7, 1970, in Harrisburg, Penn., to Sheena Scholl Yingling and Nevin Eugene Yingling.

Survivors include his parents, Sheena Scholl Russell and Nevin Yingling and wife, Karen; wife, Susan (Unti) Yingling; sons, Ryan Yingling and Thomas Yingling; daughter, Olivia "Liv" Yingling; brothers, Nevin Eugene Yingling II and Braden Daniel Yingling and wife, Laura; sister, Lauren Ann Yingling; and grandmother, Bernice Scholl.

HUNTERSVILLE – Andres Serrano Betancourt, 74, died Jan. 27, 2019.

He was born Nov. 10, 1944, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to the late Lorenzo Serrano and Placida Betancourt.

Survivors include his wife, Minerva; sons, Andres Serrano Canales and wife, Yajaira, of Huntersville and Jose Manuel Serrano Canales and wife, Denisse; daughter, Cindy Serrano Canales and husband, Juan Carlos Rivera Lebron, of Huntersville; and four grandchildren.

Services will be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
