Torina Jierell Cook

HUNTERSVILLE – Torina Jierell “Tina” Cook, 63, died Feb. 10, 2019, in Huntersville.

She was born Dec. 7, 1955, in New York City to the late Carl and Carol White.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Linden White Jr.

She was the assistant director of childcare for Bank of America in Charlotte and director at University Child Development Center - Highland Creek.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Cook; sons, Sean Jenard Dorsey and Chad Linden Cook of Huntersville; daughter, Carlae Larina Cook; and sister, Tracey White.

Services were held Feb. 19 at Life Center International.

Sharon Riggins Frary

CORNELIUS – Sharon Louise Riggins Frary, 67, passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center following a period of declining health.

Sharon was born Sept. 2, 1951, in Dania, Fla. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lorraine Louise Collier.

Surviving are her husband, James Frary of Cornelius; daughter, Angela Furr, and grandson, Thomas Legg, both of Marion; brothers Richard Riggins of Shepardsville, Ky., Billy Legg of Sherrills Ford; sisters Judi Pack of Vancleave, Miss., Lisa Long of Fairmont, W. Va., and Tammy Havens of Kernersville; brother Scott Legg of Kernersville; and stepfather, Billy Collier of N. Ft. Meyers, Fla.

Family and friends will hold a memorial celebration at noon Saturday, Feb. 23, at the

Frary home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to cancer research in Sharon’s name.

Glenn A. Storms

DAVIDSON – Glenn A. Storms, 95, died Feb. 6, 2019.

He was born April 4, 1923, in Argyle, Iowa, to the late Lewis and Rosa Storms.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and worked as master control engineer for the U.S. Government Voice of America.

He was preceded in death by his wife, LaVada.

Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Services were held Feb. 11 at James Funeral Home.

Clary Gray Howell 

HUNTERSVILLE – Clary Gray Howell, 81, died Feb. 4, 2019, at Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 28, 1937, in Centre Co., Pa., to the late Clark and Henrietta Howell.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; son, Clark Howell Jr. and wife, Diane, and Kent Howell and wife, Laura; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be held privately.

Vernon Lee Saunders Jr.

HUNTERSVILLE – Vernon “Butch” Lee Saunders Jr., 67, died Feb. 2, 2019.

He was born Jan. 26, 1952, to the late Vernon “Dink” Lee Saunders and Betty Jean Hall Saunders.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Gibson Saunders; daughters, Cari Lynn Saunders and Kimberly Dawn Campbell; son, Jared Lee Saunders and wife, Crystal; sisters, Brenda “Susie” Howard and husband, Larry, and Jennifer Mills and husband, Alan; and four granddaughters.

Services were held Feb. 7 at Hopewell Baptist Church.

Ronald Mancuso 

CORNELIUS – Ronald Mancuso, 85, died Feb. 2, 2019.

He was born Sept. 24, 1933, in North Adams, Mass., to the late Amadeo and Lena Mancuso.

He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and worked as an industrial engineer and usher at the Belk Theatre in Charlotte.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy; daughters, Anne-Marie Craig and husband, Brian, and Terri Lockwood and husband, Neil, of Huntersville; brother, John Peter Mancuso; and three grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 7 at St. Mark Catholic Church.

Wilma Michaelis Ahrens

DAVIDSON – Wilma Michaelis Ahrens, 86, died Jan. 27, 2019.

She was born Sept. 30, 1932, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late John and Emma Peters Michaelis.

She was in charge of the Davidson Presbyterian Church library for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Ahrens; and son, John P. Ahrens.

Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Greene and husband, Larry; and two grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 31 at Davidson Presbyterian Church.
