Charles John Gervase

CORNELIUS – Charles John “Charlie” Gervase, 82, died Jan. 14, 2019.

He was born May 28, 1936, in Buffalo, N.Y., to Joseph F. and Sarah (DiBella) Gervase.

He served in the U.S. Army Reserves and worked as a home builder and general contractor as well as in real estate.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Frank, and sister, Josephine Sacco.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley (Santasiero) Gervase; sons, Charles R. and wife, Barbara, Gregory S. and wife, Darcy; daughter, Jacqueline Murray; brother, Joseph F. Jr. and wife, Rosalind; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 20 at the Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home.

Charles Locke Scripps

DAVIDSON – Charles Locke Scripps, 72, died Jan. 13, 2019.

He was born Aug. 31, 1946, in Peoria, Ill.

He worked for Procter and Gamble and Findley Adhesives.

Survivors include his wife Myrle “Meg” Grier Scripps; son, Charles “Chad” Ashton; brothers, Ric and Tom; sister, Sally; daughter-in-law, Mieke; and two grandsons.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 22 at River Run Country Club.

Frances Henrietta Stockham

FRIENDSHIP, Ohio – Frances Henrietta Stockham, 99, died Jan. 13, 2019, at Levine & Dickson Hospice at Aldersgate in Charlotte.

She was born Sept. 15, 1919, in Asheville to the late Otis and Maggie Lee.

She was a postmaster with the U.S. Postal Service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Stockham Jr.

Survivors include her son, David Stockham; daughter, Betty Brown and husband, James, of Cornelius; three grandchildren; great granddaughter Elizabeth Stalford of Asheville; great grandson James Stalford of Asheville; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 18 in Asheville.

J.D. Gibbs

DAVIDSON – J.D. Gibbs, 49, died Jan. 11, 2019.

He was born Feb. 21, 1969, to Joe and Pat Gibbs.

He was an executive for Joe Gibbs Racing.

Survivors include his parents; wife, Melissa Miller Gibbs; sons, Jackson, Miller, Jason and Taylor; and brother, Coy Gibbs.

Services were held Jan. 25 at the Davidson College Belk Arena.

Robert Lee Gates

HUNTERSVILLE – Robert Lee Gates, 83, died Jan. 9, 2019.

He was born April 9, 1935, in Canton, Ohio, to the late William A. Gates and Stella G. Wolford.  

He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from AT&T.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia L. Gates, and brother, William A. Gates.

Survivors include his son, Larry Gates; daughter, Shawn Kilby; and son-in-law, Allan Kilby.

Services were held Jan. 14 at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home.

James Edward Brannon

HUNTERSVILLE – James Edward Brannon, 55, died Jan. 8, 2019.

He was born on April 25, 1963, in Mecklenburg County to Bill Brannon and the late Silvadean Brannon.

He formed and coached a minor league football team in the 1990s and worked at Raycom Sports.

Survivors include his father; wife, Lucy; daughters, Blair Brannon and Jessica Brannon of Huntersville, sister, Donna Patterson and husband, Larry.

Services were held Jan. 13 at Davidson United Methodist Church.
