HUNTERSVILLE – May Kay Sherwood, 74, died June 8, 2019.

She was born Oct. 19, 1944, in Jackson, Mich., to the late Joseph and Martha Collins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Thomas Sherwood.

Survivors include her sons, Jeffrey Thomas Sherwood and wife, Mary, Douglas Willard Sherwood and Michael Alan Sherwood and wife, Greta; brother, Tom Collins and wife, Marie; sister-in-law, Keyna Sherwood; and six grandchildren.

Services will be held privately.

Jerry Lynn Chastain Goode

CORNELIUS – Jerry Lynn Chastain Goode, 77, died June 7, 2019, at Harris Palliative Care and Hospice.

She was born Aug. 3, 1941, in Polk County, Tenn., to the late Stanley and Nelda Ruth Chastain.

Survivors include her husband, David Wayne Goode; sons, David Goode and wife, Crystal; and Michael Goode and wife, Amanda; six grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Ferman Cletus Hough Jr.

HUNTERSVILLE – Ferman Cletus Hough Jr., 75, died June 6, 2019.

He was born Dec. 22, 1943, to the late Ferman Cletus Hough and Myrtle Mundy Hough.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Ray Hough.

Survivors include his daughters, Julie, Jana, Cindy and Wendy; sons-in-law, Ian, Chris, Jimmy and Bobby; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were held June 9 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Charlotte.

HUNTERSVILLE – Elise Smith Canipe, 56m died June 5, 2019.

She was born May 12, 1963, to iris H. Smith

She worked for J.A. Jones Construction, Sedgwick Insurance and Pampered Chef.

Survivors include her mother; husband, Jeff Canipe; and brothers, Linwood Agnew Smith Jr. and James H. Smith.

Services were held June 8 at The Cove Church in Mooresville.

Alvin George McCall

HUNTERSVILLE – Alvin George McCall, 87, died June 3, 2019, at Ranson Ridge.

He was born Aug. 5, 1931, in McDowell County to the late Charles and Lela McCall.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and worked for Breyers Ice Cream in Charlotte.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Clontz McCall, and sister, Alma.

Survivors include his sons, Charles Richard McCall and wife, Carol, and Robert Jeffrey McCall and wife, Melanie, of Huntersville; sister, Clara McCall; four grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services were held June 7 at Hopewell Presbyterian Church.

Gregory Edward McDonald

DAVIDSON – Gregory Edward McDonald, 64, died June 1, 2019.

He was born July 15, 1954, to the late Edward McDonald and Rose McDonald Southard.

He worked in finance at Ingersoll-Rand and later ZF in Newton.

Survivors include his wife, Anne Marie; daughters, Kate and husband, Jeffry Cook, Kristen and husband, Brian McSorley; sister, Chris Beck; brother, Jeffrey McDonald; many sisters- and brothers-in-law; and one granddaughter.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 15 at Davidson United Methodist Church.

DAVIDSON – Shirley Ilean Gabsdell Allen, 89, died May 30, 2019, at The Pines at Davidson.

She was born May 22, 1928, in Detroit, Mich., to the late Chester and Louise Gabsdell.

She worked as a nurse.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, and infant son, Gary.

Survivors include her children, Sherry Allen Francis and husband, Sandy, Judith Allen Kaminsky and husband, Mark, and Joe Allen and wife, Edeltrud; sister, Carol Schroeder; brother-in-law, Dick Allen and wife, Jane; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, at Davidson United Methodist Church.

Robert Glenn McAfee

MOUNT HOLLY – Robert Glenn “Rob” McAfee, 50, died May 20, 2019.

He was born Nov. 12, 1968, to Ronald E. and Kathleen Dougherty McAfee, of Cornelius.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and worked in sales in the telecommunication industry.

Survivors include his parents; brother, Ronald E. McAfee Jr. and wife, Sharon; and sisters, Kathy Bowen and Karon Johnson.

Services were held May 24 at St. Mark Catholic Church, with burial at Northlake Memorial Gardens.
