Dominic Richard Spain

CORNELIUS – Dominic Richard “Dom” Spain, 81, died Feb. 15, 2019.

He was born June 21, 1937, in Warren, Ohio, to the late Edith and Tony Spain (Spagnuolo).

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and retired from the General Electric Company.

Survivors include his wife, Janet (Cooley); sons, Joe Spain and wife, Kim Villena; Steve Spain and wife, Sarah; brothers, Anthony Spain and wife, Sonny, and John Spain and wife, Sheryl; and three grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. March 2 at James Funeral Home.

Betty Rimmer Lemmons

HUNTERSVILLE – Betty Rimmer Lemmons, 85, died Feb. 14, 2019, at her home.

She was born June 11, 1933, to the late Raymond and Texie Rimmer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Herman Lemmons.

Survivors include her daughter, Veda Benfield and husband Junior, of Huntersville; sons, Loyd James Axson of Huntersville and Donald Eugene Axson; brothers, Edward Rimmer and Donald Rimmer and wife, Louise; sister-in-law, Polly Rimmer; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 19 at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home.

Nancy Louise Shelar

HUNTERSVILLE – Nancy Louise Shelar, 79, died Feb. 14, 2019.

She was born Feb. 24, 1938, in Youngstown, Ohio, to the late Thomas Dale Mascher and Mary Louise Mascher.

She was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Doran and wife, Ellen.

Survivors include her daughters, Karen Loy, Tamara Dunn and husband, Jeff, and Kelly Kester; son, Patrick Doran; sister, Rosemary Drake and husband, Jeff; brother, Noel Mascher and wife, Sharon; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

HUNTERSVILLE – Aileen Ellin Nathan, 92, died Feb. 14, 2019, at the Levin & Dickson Hospice House.

She was born Feb. 14, 1927, in New York City to Murray and Ruth Wagner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Nathan; daughter, Susan Vidal and husband, Nathan; and sister, Joan Smith.

Survivors include her son, Edward Vidal; three granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.

Torina Jierell Cook

HUNTERSVILLE – Torina Jierell “Tina” Cook, 63, died Feb. 10, 2019, in Huntersville.

She was born Dec. 7, 1955, in New York City to the late Carl and Carol White.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Linden White, Jr.

She was the assistant director of childcare for Bank of America in Charlotte and director at University Child Development Center - Highland Creek.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Cook; sons, Sean Jenard Dorsey and Chad Linden Cook of Huntersville; daughter, Carlae Larina Cook; and sister, Tracey White.

Services were held Feb. 19 at Life Center International.

Faye Carolyn Reid

DAVIDSON – Faye Carolyn Reid, 82, died Feb. 9, 2019.

She was born March 13, 1936, in Iredell County to the late J. Moore Reid and Lizzie Caldwell Reid.

She worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

She was preceded in death by twin brothers.

Survivors include her sister, Margaret Sherrill.

CHARLOTTE – Karen Edith Miller Waybright, 75, died Feb. 8, 2019.

She was born Oct. 18, 1943, in Charleston, W.Va., to the late Ralph W. Miller and Edith Long Miller.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathryn M. Rowe of Huntersville; brothers, Michael George Miller and wife, Alice, and twin, Kyle Miller and wife; and four grandchildren.

CORNELIUS – Sally Frederick Weaver Powell, 91, died Feb. 8, 2019.

She was born Sept. 16, 1927, in Ligonier, Pa., to the late Phillip Weaver and Palmyra Frederick Weaver.

She worked as a merchandise manager and buyer for Ivey's Department Stores.

Survivors include her daughters, Polly Everette Powell and spouse, Michelle, and Kristin Powell Quinn and husband, Kevin; and one grandson.

DAVIDSON – Marjorie Muriel Petherbridge Alexander, 78, died Feb. 7, 2019.

She was born Feb. 8, 1940, in Philadelphia to the late Henry W. and Hilda Pooler Petherbridge.

Survivors include her husband, John M. Alexander of Huntersville; children, John M. Alexander Jr., Patricia A. Menges and husband, J.D., of Huntersville, Elizabeth “Marie” Politowicz and husband, Lou, of Cornelius, and George “Lee” Alexander and wife, Heidi, of Huntersville; siblings, John Petherbridge and wife, Pat, and Robert Petherbridge; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
