Ted Richard Mills

CORNELIUS – Ted Richard Mills, 81, died May 5, 2019.

He was born July 19, 1937.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and later was District Commissioner for the Boy Scouts of Mecklenburg County.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Mills; daughters; Sabrina Fesperman and husband, David, Kim Ardjewski and husband, Eric; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10-11:45 a.m. Saturday, May 11, followed by a funeral service at James Funeral Home.

Barbara Ann Jones Washam

CORNELIUS – Barbara “Bobbie” Ann Jones Washam, 81, died May 5, 2019, at Atrium Health in Huntersville.

She was born Feb. 9, 1938, in Iredell County to the late Marvin and Vera McGinnis Jones.

She was a daycare teacher at First Baptist Church in Huntersville.

Survivors include her husband, Burl Jackson Washam; son, Bradley Jackson Washam and wife, Cindy; daughter, Belinda Washam Bates and husband, Robert, of Huntersville; and four grandchildren.

Services were held May 8 at James Funeral Home.

Betty Lee Evans Stanley

CORNELIUS – Betty Lee Evans Stanley, 92, died May 1, 2019.

She was born Jan. 5, 1927, in Cumberland, Md., to the late Harold Evans and Elizabeth Evans.

Survivors include her daughters, Nancy McGahey and husband, Tom, of Cornelius, and Ellen Stanley and partner, Greg; sister, Sharleen Schmacher; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held May 3 at St. Mark Catholic Church.

Glen Edward Robinson

DAVIDSON – Glen Edward Robinson, 95, died April 30, 2019, at The Pines at Davidson.

He was born April 2, 1924, in Knoxville, Tenn., to the late Walter and Lillian Robinson.

He served as an infantry officer during World War II and was director of research for the National Education Association.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Falls Robinson; and brother, Joseph Alvin Robinson.

Survivors include his children, David Robinson and wife, Aura, Mark Robinson, Brian Robinson and wife, Deborah, and Beth Robinson Schaffner; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

Herman Hardy Hamilton Jr.

DAVIDSON – Herman Hardy Hamilton Jr., 91, died April 30, 2019.

He was born Feb. 4, 1928, in Russellville, Ala., to the late Delma Ferguson Hamilton (later Warner) and Herman Hardy Hamilton.

He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and worked in corporate law in Alabama.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Camilla Lowry.

Survivors include his wife, Kitty; daughters, Katy Cook and husband, Reuben, and Leslie Thomas of Davidson; sister-in-law, Leslie Lambert; and four grandchildren.

Services were held May 7 at Davidson United Methodist Church.

Delores Cooper Bright

HUNTERSVILLE – Delores Cooper Bright, 86, died April 30, 2019.

She was born Dec. 6, 1932, in New Orleans to the late Bert and Annie Cooper.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; son, J.T.; and grandson, Chandler.

Survivors include her sons, Steven of Stanfield and Randall; daughters, Karen Blood and Cathy Bright; brother, Bert; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Molly Childers

CORNELIUS – Molly Ann Harvey Childers, 84, died April 26, 2019.

She was born June 20, 1934, to Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Harvey.

She was preceded in death by a brother, James G. Harvey II.

She was a volunteer at Cornelius Elementary.

Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Ann Childers Burton, and three grandsons.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. May 18 at Davidson United Methodist Church.
