Barbara Keever Freeman

HUNTERSVILLE – Barbara Keever Freeman, 81, died Oct. 30, 2018.

She was born Nov. 6, 1936, in Dillon, S.C., to the late Thomas and Bertha Keever.

Survivors include her husband, Curtis; sons, Miles and wife, Carol, of Huntersville and Mark; siblings, Betty Roper and Janice McKeel and husband, Bob; two grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were held Nov. 3 at First Baptist Church-Huntersville.

Betty Jean Deaton Cross

CORNELIUS – Betty Jean Deaton Cross, 92, died Oct. 30, 2018, at Autumn Care.

She was born Sept. 23, 1926, to the late Sarah Emmaline Gurley Deaton and James Harris Duke Deaton.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin “Bennie” Cross.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan Cross Dove of Huntersville; sons, Kim Cross and wife, Abby, and Keith Cross and wife, Kelly, of Huntersville; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Services were held Nov. 3 at Huntersville Presbyterian Church.

Caroline A. McCarthy

HUNTERSVILLE – Caroline A. McCarthy, 74, died Oct. 28, 2018.

She was born Feb. 20, 1944, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Natale and Clara Ditre.

Survivors include her husband, John McCarthy; daughter, Wendy McCarthy; sons, John, Darren and Daniel McCarthy; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services were held privately locally and in December in New York.

He was born July 31, 1968, in Bogota, Colombia, to Norberto and Ana Cano.

DAVIDSON – Ann Hughes, 72, died Oct. 27, 2018.

She was born Oct. 9, 1946, in England to the late John Edward Audsley and Isabella Gray Anderson Audsley.

CORNELIUS – Stephen A. Romeo, 73, died Oct. 27, 2018, in Huntersville.

He was born Aug. 18, 1945, in Berwick, Penn.

Blaise Gamble Howe

DAVIDSON – Blaise Gamble Howe, 31, died Oct. 26, 2018, in Greensboro.

He was born June 20, 1987, in Laguna Niguel, Calif., to Andrew Joseph Howe and Kate Gamble Lassiter.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert A. Howe, Elaine Joinville Howe, Gladys Lufty Howe and Jennifer “Jeffie” Gamble; and uncle; Dennis Howe.

Survivors include his parents; brothers, Schuyler and Hunter Howe; stepfather, T. Michael Lassiter Jr.; step-siblings, Grace, Erin and Michael Lassiter; and grandparents, William “BeeGee” Gamble and Elizabeth Richardson Gamble.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 10 at Davidson United Methodist Church.
