Claire Virginia Anderson

CONCORD – Claire Virginia Anderson, 86, died Aug. 1, 2018.

She was born March 11, 1932, in Port of Spain, Trinidad, to the late Lawrence and Adriana Anderson.

She was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother.

Survivors include her daughter, Alena King and husband, Robert; sister-in-law, Clo Anderson;

four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kannapolis.

William Lee McCoy

HUNTERSVILLE – William Lee McCoy, 78, died July 31, 2018.

He was born in Mecklenburg County to the late William Walter McCoy and Mable Luckey McCoy.

He was a driver for Continental Trailways and retired from his trucking business, Lee McCoy’s Trucking.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel C. McCoy.  

Survivors include his son, Roger McCoy and wife, Miriam; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Services were held Aug. 4 in the chapel of James Funeral Home.

James McIlwaine Archer III

HUNTERSVILLE – James McIlwaine “Sandy” Archer III, 83, died July 30, 2018, at his home.

He was born Jan. 18, 1935, in Charlotte to the late James M. Archer Jr. and Dorothy White Archer.

He served in the National Guard, worked in sales and was the franchise owner of eight Bojangles’ locations.

He was preceded in death by his in-laws, E. Marion Cole and Lois Sherrill Cole.

Survivors include his wife, Kay Cole Archer; daughters, Lysa Archer Craig and Kimberly Archer; son, Kevin Archer and wife, Leslie; brother, Ben Archer and wife, Linda; brother-in-law, Steve Cole and wife, Shirley; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Services were held Aug. 3 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.

Gracie Belle Luffman

MOORESVILLE – Gracie Belle Luffman Luffman, 93, died July 28, 2018, at Olde Knox Commons in Huntersville.

She was born Sept. 19, 1924, in Elkin to the late Johnny Luffman and Sally Holcomb Luffman.

She worked at Burlington Industries, formerly Mooresville Mills.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Harold Luffman.

Survivors include her children, Norma Luffman, James L. Luffman and Dwayne H. Luffman; one sister; one brother; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren.

Services were held Aug. 1 at Salisbury National Cemetery.

Gerson Cruz Pamintuan

HUNTERSVILLE – Gerson Cruz Pamintuan, 65, died July 26, 2018, at his home.

He was born May 17, 1953, in the Philippines to Ivencio and Lourdes Cruz Pamintuan.

Survivors include his daughter, Maria Legaspi Kuhtine.

Services were held July 29 in the chapel of James Funeral Home.

Christopher Thomas Pope

ROTONDA WEST, Fla. – Christopher Thomas Pope, 54, died July 25, 2018.

He was born Sept. 28, 1963, in Mooresville to Lester Tommy Pope and Erma Christopher Pope.

Survivors include his mother; son, Christopher Lee Pope and wife, Danielle; daughter, Katlin Danielle of Denver; sister, Ann Pope Shields; and three grandchildren.

A visitation was held Aug. 1 at Raymer Kepner Funeral Home, and services were held privately.

Greg Chandler

HUNTERSVILLE – Greg Chandler, 61, died July 22, 2018.

He was born in San Jose, Calif., to the late Gene Chandler and Sandy Keyes.

He worked in the real estate industry, most recently as an investor.

Survivors include his former wife, Mary Kay Chandler, of Huntersville.

Services will be held in the coming weeks.

Joyce Alexander Sendler

NEPTUNE BEACH, Fla. – Joyce Alexander Sendler, 82, died July 20, 2018.

She was born to the late Jones and Emma (Knox) Alexander and grew up in Huntersville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Al Sendler; brother-in-law, Richard Sendler; and grandson, Alex Plucknett.

Survivors include her son, David Sendler and wife, Michelle; daughter, Janice Plucknett and husband, Dennis; in-laws, Edward and Jayne Sendler, Mary Ann and William Newell, Carolyn Sendler, Jean and William Ayers, and Charles and Lynn Sendler; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held July 31 in Atlantic Beach, Fla.
