Margaret Ann Garofolo

MOORESVILLE – Margaret “Peggy” Ann Garofolo, 70, died Aug. 7, 2018, at her residence.

She was born Jan. 12, 1948, in Canonsburg, Pa., to the late Robert Samuel Watson and Diane Shuba Watson.

She retired from Huntersville Oaks.

Survivors include her husband, A.J. Garofolo; and brothers, James Watson, John Watson and Robert Watson.

Services were held Aug. 12 at Shearer Presbyterian Church.

Robert Keith Herrmann

HUNTERSVILLE – Robert Keith Herrmann, 92, died Aug. 6, 2018, at the Victory Lane Hospice House in Salisbury.

He was born in Faulkton, S.D., to the late Edward and Elizabeth Herrmann

He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Mark Chevrolet in Wayne, Mich.

He was preceded in death by wife, Beverly Lou (Fillbach) Herrmann; and brothers, James Herrmann, David Herrmann, Jerry Herrmann, Roger “Pete” Herrmann and Don Herrmann.

Survivors include his daughters, Melissa Dierks and husband, Mark, and Sarah Leaf-Herrmann and husband, William; sister, Sally Frey and husband, Don; and one grandson.

Services will be held Veterans Day weekend in South Dakota.

Joyce Allen DeStefano

CHARLOTTE – Joyce Allen DeStefano, 80, died Aug. 5, 2018, at The Laurels.

She was born May 19, 1938, in Providence, R.I., to the late Richard and Bertha Allen.

She worked as a legal secretary.

She was preceded in death by the father of her children, John DeStefano; brother, Richard and wife, Lou; and longtime companion, Vince DeLuca.

Survivors include her sons, John “Butch” and wife, Shari DeStefano of Davidson, David and wife, Sarah, and Rick and wife, Renita; and five grandchildren.

Services were held Aug. 9 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.

HUNTERSVILLE – Marie C. Labriola, 90, died Aug. 5, 2018.

She was born March 13, 1928, in Queens, N.Y., to the late Anthony and Theresa Covino.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Blaise Frank Labriola; and sister, Isabel Rossi.

Survivors include her children, Joseph Labriola and wife, Barbara, and Blaise Labriola and significant other, Yasmin Aga Khan, Lia Labriola, and Gina Gioulis and husband, Antonios Gioulis; brothers, John Covino and wife, Michele, and Joseph Covino and wife, Sally; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services were held Aug. 13 at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home.

Marilyn Louise Ray

CORNELIUS – Marilyn Louise Ray, 66, died Aug. 4, 2018, at Serenity House in Huntersville.

She was born April 17, 1952, in Huntington, W.Va., to the late Robert Lee Ray and Bess Virginia Ray. 

Survivors include her brother, Ray.

Services will be held in West Virginia at a later date.

Jessie Rebecca McKinney Bowen

HUNTERSVILLE – Jessie “Jakie” Rebecca McKinney Bowen, 95, died Aug. 2, 2018.

She was born Nov. 15, 1922, in York County, S.C., to the late Walter and Sallie McKinney.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Baxter “George” Bowen.

Survivors include her daughters, Georgia Bowen Davis, Sandy Bowen Baumgarten and Sally Bowen Roberts; two grandsons; four granddaughters; 14 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Aug. 6 at James Funeral Home.

Angela Long Lee

MOORESVILLE – Angela Long Lee, 54, died Aug. 2, 2018, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.

She was born March 20, 1964, in Greenville, S.C., to Anne McKinney Lanier and the late Billy Oree Long.

She worked at Ferguson Fire and Fabrication. 

Survivors include her mother; husband, James “Jimmy” Lee; children, Austin and Hamlin Lee; and brother, Beau Long.

Services will be held Aug. 20 at Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
