Rex A. Armstrong

CORNELIUS – Rex A. Armstrong, 70, died June 19, 2018.

He was born Jan. 13, 1948, to the late Walter W. Armstrong and Malinda (Hirsch) Armstrong.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was a project manager for CTA Builders.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl; sisters, Gayle Knip, Linda Ploehn and Sandy Winter; and brother, Walter Armstrong.

Services were to be held privately.

George Jenkins Jr.

HUNTERSVILLE – George Jenkins Jr., 57, died June 18, 2018.

He was born Sept. 28, 1960, in Philadelphia, Penn., to Dorothy and the late George Jenkins.

Survivors include his mother; wife, Latosha; children, Inez-Christina, Dorothy-Elise, George III, Christian-Hope and Christian-Grace; and sisters, Marlene, Cheryl, Laverne and husband, Nathan, and Lynnel.

Services were held June 22 in the chapel of James Funeral Home.

Novella Mildred Hall

CORNELIUS – Novella Mildred “Noey” Hall, 80, died June 17, 2018, at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House.

She was born Oct. 27, 1937, in St. Louis, Mo., to the late Thomas and Ethel Hendricks.

She worked for Prudential Insurance Company in St. Louis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Ed” Hall.

Survivors include her daughter, Patti Wallace and husband, Rusty, of Cornelius; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held June 21 in the chapel of James Funeral Home.

Enrique Torres

HUNTERSVILLE – Enrique Torres, 87, died June 16, 2018, Huntersville.

He was born July 15, 1930, in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba.

Survivors include his wife, Luz Maria Torres; children, Lucy Torres and husband, John, and Enrique “Rick” Torres Jr., and wife, Jessica; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held June 19 at James Funeral Home and June 20 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Charlotte.

Theresa M. Dixon

CORNELIUS – Theresa M. Dixon, 86, died June 14, 2018.

She worked as a librarian at St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute and for the North Tonawanda (N.Y.) school system.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Dixon, and a brother, Julian Kubiniec.

Survivors include her children, Kathleen Braun, Robert Dixon and wife, May, William Dixon and wife, Rosemary; brother, Richard Kubiniec and wife, Joan; and six grandchildren.

Services will be held in Buffalo, N.Y., at a future date.

Gaye Mayhew Knox Turman

MOORESVILLE – Gaye Mayhew Knox Turman, 100, died June 20, 2018, at CMC-Northeast in Concord.

She was born June 12, 1918, in Cornelius to the late Martin and Jamie Harris Mayhew.

She retired from General Times.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Earl M. Knox and Joe Frank Turman; son, Earl “Butch” Knox Jr.; daughter, Earlene Lawing; son-in-law, Troy Lawing; sisters, Mabel Readling, Sarah Ballard and Cornelia Honeycutt; brother, Bud Mayhew; and one granddaughter.

Survivors include her daughters, Alice K. Price and husband, Jerry, and Sharon K. Kistler and husband, Bill; daughter-in-law, Karen M. Knox; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were held June 24 at the Cavin-Cook Funeral Home chapel.

Mary Etta Schrier Lambeth

BAKERSVILLE – Mary Etta Schrier Lambeth, 75, died June 12, 2018.

She was born to the late Cornelius M. and Maurine Neissink Schrier.

Survivors include her son, Rick and wife, Bethany Lambeth; daughter, Erin Caldwell and husband, Christian, of Huntersville; sister, Marcia Schubert; sister-in-law, Shirley Schrier Coffman; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be held at a later date.

Jacqueline B. Blythe

HUNTERSVILLE – Jacqueline "Jackie" Buxey Blythe, 84, died June 10, 2018, at her home.

She was born Oct. 6, 1933, in London, England, to the late John and Miriam Buxey.

She retired from J. Murrey Atkins Library at UNC-Charlotte.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and two sisters.

Survivors include her children, Mark Blythe and wife, Kim, Fiona Blythe Brown and husband, Joe, of Huntersville, and Philip Blythe and wife, Melanie; and nine grandchildren.

Services were held June 14 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
