While a final route had not been released as of Wednesday evening, officials say a procession for slain Mooresville Officer Jordan Sheldon as it passes through the Lake Norman area could include up to 2,500 emergency vehicles and be as much as 15 miles long.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. at Calvary Church in south Charlotte. Following the service, the procession will travel to Mooresville.

The Mooresville Graded School District is releasing all students by noon Friday to avoid possible traffic tie-ups. The area is expected to be affected between 1 and 4 p.m., the school system said.
