While we were away for a few days, our Cedarville Park neighbors did a fantastic amount of yard work for us. Due to chronic pain issues and peripheral neuropathy issues. our neighbors worked together to lift our burden immensely . What a wonderful bunch of good Samaritans.  Thank you all so …

A few summers ago this publication printed a picture of Sam Furr Road's median overgrown with unsightly weeds, and implied "peeved".  This Spring the same median has rows and rows of (warm fuzzy) flowers.  Real news got good results. Grateful resident.

Kudos to those volunteers who have a group to feel safe while picking up odiferous road trash. Many communities use volunteer guarded prisoners for these types of clean ups. When one is elderly and driving a small car one should NOT stop in a neighborhood known for dog fights and drugs (alth…

Thank you to the anonymous person/persons who paid for our Easter breakfast at The Egg in Davidson last Sunday! Our family was especially touched by your kindness on the day we celebrate the Lord's grace!

Just wanted to acknowledge whoever found my bank card in the Wells Fargo ATM on Gilead yesterday, March 6th, 2017 and took the time to bring it inside the branch.

Attention flower people, gardeners, etc....toss the old song, 'Spring Will Be a Little Late This Year' out!  I've never seen so many flowers and trees blooming so early.  What a welcome sight!  Spring has sprung, albeit early!  Welcome another old tune, 'Spring Is Here,' so enjoy!

A couple weeks ago my wife and went to Epic Chophouse in Mooresville to celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary.  As we were seated a very nice couple exchanged pleasantries that sat next to us.  We told the waiter it was our 49th wedding anniversary and when he left the couple next to us ext…

When walking on Torrence Chapel sidewalk, I fell cutting my forehead. Two people stopped, cleaned my wound. The young lady used her babies’ supplies, then the young man driving me home. What wonderful deeds. Thank you.

Last Friday (12/2), my mom found out her best friend’s daughter died, so it was a hard day for our family. We still went to Friday night dinner at Big Bite’z Grill in Cornelius. As we walked into the restaurant, an older gentleman was entering and I held the door open for him. He ordered his…

I'm happy to see we are peeved about the growth issues our town faces and have faith that it will all work out, because we are smart and will work together for the best living experience. After all it could be worse, we could be peeved about the opposite, no growth, no jobs, high cost of hou…

Having recently been at Barnette Elementary for a Fall Festival, I was very impressed with their open garden in the middle of the school campus!  What a great on-going project for the kids to work on year round - I hope all CMS schools are planning & planting! Kudos to Barnette!

Recently I spent a couple of days at Novant Hospital in Huntersville and in and out several days for tests. I just wanted to say I was so impressed with the staff there From the doctors to the transport people. Everyone was so kind and patient with me. I know that they are paid to be there b…

A few weeks ago I emailed a peeved problem about the railroad tracks in front of the FXI building in Cornelius. I just want to say thanks to whoever fixed the problem. The pavement around the tracks is so smooth, so nice to drive across.now. Thanks to whoever!

Many thanks to all the wonderful people in the MacAulay neighborhood who offered help when I took a tumble on my way to my granddaughters’ swim meet. Special thanks to Ava’s Dad who kept me company until my son Ron was able to get me to urgent care!

Thankful we have LakeCross Veterinary in Huntersville. The veterinarians and staff are efficient, good with communicating what needs to be done and in taking time to ensure your animal is getting the best of care. My family has been visiting this office for years, and I have never been disap…

While checking my mail, a car whizzed by and splashed a bunch of mud on my favorite pair of skinny jeans. I thought they were ruined and started shaking my fist at the car. But the guy in the car backed up, apologized and offered to buy me another pair. Thanks for doing that. I’ve decided to…

I held the door open for a woman when entering a coffee shop. When she approached the line ahead of me she let me take the place in front of her. Grace.

Thank you to the Town of Cornelius for taking a stand against the N.C. Department of Transportation’s toll road plan. The effort may not make much of a difference, but I’m glad we have leaders voicing an opinion regarding this project spiraling out of control.

I was happy to see that Betty Patterson finally get a new home. I’m also proud to call Huntersville home. So many people have helped in the effort. Major props to the Huntersville Fire Department and Hopewell Presbyterian for spearheading this effort.

So happy after reading Nils Lucander’s article ‘I-77 toll lanes part of legal extortion’ in the May 29-June 4th Herald Weekly. Sometime in the future someone will investigate the whole I-77 ordeal and inform us of the groups of people making money or receiving or giving favors while we pay f…

I am grateful for my fellow volunteers at the Cornelius Animal Shelter. The less pleasant tasks (poop scooping, dish washing, cage cleaning) are far overshadowed by the joy of caring for our less fortunate “furries” and making a difference in their lives. The animals love the human interacti…

I love looking at sunsets around the lake. So gorgeous.

We’re so fortunate to live in an area where the fire departments work together and are quick to respond when there’s an emergency. With that drowning at Mountain Island Lake, you had Long Creek, Huntersville and Charlotte jumping to the scene.

The American Red Cross is an agency that doesn’t get enough praise. Not only do they help collect blood for people who need it, but they also go to the scenes of fire and other emergencies to help with displaced families.

Thank you to Officer Carter of the Huntersville Police Department. He was the officer who helped me in my accident involving a deer on Wednesday. He was terrific. He helped put me at ease and he had to, sadly, be the one to put the poor deer out of her misery. He stayed with me until the tow…

My recent visit to the Huntersville DMV was pleasant and efficient. The employees and I exchanged smiles, the computer system explained service options, and each employee I talked to answered my questions thoroughly. A terrific improvement from previous visits, where chaos and disgruntled em…

Flipping through the Saluting Our Troops section last week, I was surprised to see so many names of local military who died in the line of duty. Makes you want to go up to a veteran or active military and give them a hug!

I'm happy we have an awesome new restaurant in downtown Davidson. Authentic. Gourmet food and the new outside patio is one of the best places to enjoy food outdoors. Thanks Kindred for lifting the bar on restaurants in Lake Norman.

Whoever decided it was time to repave the library parking lot, driveway, and the street leading into it, thank you!!!! It was a mess for a long time.

When I first saw the diverging diamond, I never thought it would work as well as it does. The design on top and ability to walk or ride through is great. I am happy our town leaders and the DOT stuck to the plan despite the construction difficulties.

I was recently on a run with my kids in our neighborhood and a Huntersville police officer stopped and pulled two teddy bears from his trunk and gave them to my kids. Thank you sir for doing that. You made our day and my kids haven't stopped talking about the police man who gave them bears.

I would like to thank the Cornelius Police for checking our home Sunday evening. After returning from a graduation party, we found our garage door up and our porch light uncharacteristically turned off. My daughter and I were just uneasy enough to be prudent before entering. The Cornelius Po…
