People filled the parking lot near the Cornelius Arts Center Aug. 9 for the Second Friday Street Festival, hosted by Old Town Cornelius. Among the festivities were musical entertainment, vendors, refreshments and children's activities. The event takes place 6-10 p.m. the second Friday of each month through October.

On Sunday, participants of Miss May's Elegant Tea dressed for an afternoon tea at Historic Rural Hill. The event honors Miss May Davidson, benefactress of the Rural Hill Cultural Center, and proceeds went to Auxiliary projects at Historic Rural Hill.
