CORNELIUS – A social media post and an air gun resulted in a Hough High School student being charged with a misdemeanor.

On April 5, Cornelius Police charged a Hough student with misdemeanor possession of a firearm on school grounds following an investigation into an incident on April 3.

According to a CPD release, Cornelius officers, along with Davidson Police Department and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Police Department officers, investigated an incident involving a social media posting traced to the student. While the post was deemed not threatening in nature, officers continued to investigate and learned the student brought an air-soft gun to school April 3 and showed it to other students in class.

He was charged with the misdemeanor based on N.C. General Statutes.
