HUNTERSVILLE –Huntersville police have identified the second suspect in the fatal shooting that occurred the day after Christmas in the southeastern part of town.
Kelton (a.k.a. “KT”) Tyrich Silver, a 23-year-old black male identified as a resident of Charlotte, is the second suspect involved in the Dec. 26 murder of Zonta Dunlap. Police are continuing the search for Silver, who faces charges of murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Ivan Fernando Petty, 23, or Charlotte was arrested less than 12 hours after the 10:30 a.m. incident that took place on Bryton Pass Lane and resulted in the death of Dunlap, a 28-year-old resident of Concord. A second victim, who has not been identified, was transported to a Charlotte hospital for treatment for what police described as “non-life threatening” injuries.
Petty has been charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, discharging a weapon into an occupied property and possession of a weapon by a felon. He was apprehended Wednesday night with assistance from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team.
