Severe thunderstorms could bring flooding to the Lake Norman area over the weekend, forecasters say.
There is a 70 percent chance of showers and storms Friday, 60 percent Saturday and 80 percent Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
In the Lake Norman area, “multiple rounds of thunderstorms are expected Friday through Sunday,” the NWS office in Greenville-Spartanburg, S.C., reported in an advisory. “Some thunderstorms may be strong to possibly severe. Heavy rain may lead to isolated flash flooding, especially on Sunday.”
For April, nearly 3 inches of rain has already fallen in some areas around Lake Norman.
