DAVIDSON – A person familiar with municipal administration matters in the north Mecklenburg area has joined the Town of Davidson staff as town clerk and administrative assistant.

Betsy Shores, after eight years of service with the Town of Cornelius, began duties in Davidson on April 16. Shores fills the position previously held by Carmen Clemsic, who assumed duties as recreation program manager for the Davidson Parks and Recreation Department a few months ago.

Shores will perform statutory town clerk responsibilities such as serving as the custodian of official town records, collaborating with town staff to prepare information and agendas for board meetings, preparing board of commissioners meeting minutes and handling public record requests. She will also complete special projects and provide administrative support to the town manager, assistant town manager and others in the administration department.

Shores will also manage contracts for all departments and sales for Mimosa Cemetery.

Shores was previously an administrative assistant and public information officer with the Cornelius Police Department.

Shores can be reached at bshores@townofdavidson.org or 704-940-9614.
