It could be a wet weekend in the Lake Norman area.
Scattered thunderstorms, some of which could be severe, are possible beginning Friday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
There is an 80 percent chance of showers and storms from Friday through Sunday night, then a 70 percent probability Monday and Monday night, the weather service said Thursday morning. Nearly two inches of rain is possible Friday and Friday night alone, according to the forecast.
Weekend high temperatures are not expected to get out of the 70s.
“An active pattern will set up across the region Friday through the weekend and into Monday,” the NWS office in Greenville, S.C., reported Thursday in a bulletin. “With multiple days of moderate to heavy rainfall, the threat of flash flooding will increase. Also, a few strong storms may produce gusty winds.”
