CORNELIUS – Chris Bacola has been named senior vice president and Lake Norman market executive at Aquesta Bank.
His primary responsibility will be to grow Aquesta’s presence in the Lake Norman area as the lead commercial lender in the Cornelius-based bank’s home market, the company said in an announcement of Bacola’s hiring.
Bacola brings more than 20 years of banking experience, 16 of them in the Lake Norman area, to his new position.
He is a longtime member and past president of the Mooresville Shriner’s Club and the Mooresville-Lake Norman Rotary Club. He also coaches a Special Olympics flag football team in Mooresville and is a former assistant football coach with the Cabarrus Stallions and Lake Norman Giants.
Bacola earned an MBA from Lynchburg College and bachelor’s degree from Liberty University. He lives in Cornelius with his wife of 29 years, and has a daughter who graduated from East Carolina University this year and a son who’s on active duty in the Marine Corps.
“We are fortunate to have Chris join Aquesta to help our continued growth in the Lake Norman and Charlotte areas,” said Aquesta president and CEO Jim Engel. “He has a solid banking background, and as a Lake Norman resident he knows the community extremely well.”
Aquesta Bank has branches in Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Mooresville, Charlotte and Wilmington; and loan production offices in Raleigh, and in Charleston and Greenville, S.C.
