GASTONIA – The Mountain Island Ward of the Gastonia Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) recently announced new leadership for their congregation.
In the LDS church, ward leaders are part of a lay ministry. Bishop David Porter and his wife, Melissa, are the parents of three boys. Porter works at Wells Fargo as a banking risk manager. Brad Petersen, first counselor, and his wife, Trish, are the parents of six children.
Petersen is the manager of irrigation and technology services at Smith Turf and Irrigation. Jay Hart, second counselor, and his wife, Arrion, are the parents of four children. Hart works at Bank of America as senior vice president, Leadership Development Consultant.
Credit union celebrates first anniversary in Gaston County
BELMONT – Charlotte Metro Credit Union celebrated the first anniversary of its Belmont office with an open house and Montcross Area Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting last month.
The business is in the South Fork Station retail center at 6425 Wilkinson Blvd., Belmont, between Famous Toastery and the ABC Store.
Riverside Fest scheduled
BELMONT – Riverside Marina will hold Riverside Fest 3-8 p.m. Sept. 8 at 1500 River Drive.
The event includes live music, food trucks, local beer and cider and kayaks.
Brewers include Divine Barrel Brewing, Dreamchaser’s Brewery, Fonta Flora Brewing, Hyde Brewing, Lenny Boy Brewing, NoDa Brewing Company, Olde Mecklenburg Brewery, Red Clay Ciderworks, Resident Culture Brewing Company, Rivermen Brewing Co., Thirsty Nomad Brewing Co., Three Spirits Brewery and Triple C Brewing Co.
The low country boil VIP tickets cost $30 and include riverside seating, meal and VIP parking.
The event is a benefit for the Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation.
