DENVER – Mountain Island resident Eddie Deal made the 18-mile trek up N.C. 16 to the Eastern Lincoln Historical Society Car Show Aug. 18 to show off his 1936 Ford coupe.

“It’s older than you and me both,” he said.

The three-window car carries a 327 cubic-inch 1967 Chevrolet engine. And Deal painted on the oxide-red exterior.

It’s a “limited-mileage” car, Deal said, but he occasionally takes it out for an afternoon drive. Of the exposed rumble seat: “People can still sit in the back, but I don’t think you’ll find many volunteers.”
