MOORESVILLE – Astronaut Dr. Don Thomas paid a visit to Lake Norman Elementary School Friday, Jan. 4, to speak to students.

The visit was made possible by a Kennedy Space Center Summer of Mars grant, written by LNES teacher Yamil Ardila.

Thomas has spent 44 days in space and orbited Earth nearly 700 times during his 20-year career with NASA. He is an adjunct associate professor of physics and the director of the Hackerman Academy of Mathematics and Science in Towson, Md.
